Have you ever felt like you cannot find the energy or motivation to do the most basic tasks? Or constantly going over the "what-ifs" in your mind? Have you ever struggled with losing someone that you love and feel as if you will never make it out of the fog? Have you experienced a traumatic event and need help managing the thoughts and feelings that come up after the experience? Are you feeling stuck in your life, or just listless? Are you struggling with substance abuse and the impact of usage in your professional and/or personal life? Do you have a history of self-harm or self-harming thoughts?

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the states of Florida and Indiana. I facilitate the spiritual, mental and emotional healing process through talk therapy. I believe my gift, in the counseling relationship, is that I help others see things for themselves. I also have a Christian world view which guides my interaction with others. I am a compassionate, non judgmental, "Wounded healer". I have had to work through challenging issues in life like anyone else. I do not condemn nor condone; I treat.

*CSAT-Candidate. Sex addiction can have a truly negative impact on your family, your career, your relationships, and your health. Discovering that your partner has an addiction or is heavily involved in porn can be devastating to your relationship. You may feel alone and ashamed about your partner's behavior and have the urge to try to control how he acts. Although sexuality composes a large part of our lives, talking about it isn't always easy. When problems arise, it is even more difficult to discuss. Anger is a normal, healthy human emotion. However, left uncontrolled, it has the power to damage your body and your relationships.

An ideal client recognizes their substance use has become problematic and is motivated to make positive changes. They may face physical, emotional, and interpersonal issues and feel overwhelmed. Services they may require include diagnosis, counseling, group therapy, and referrals for additional resources. Their goals may include abstinence, physical/mental health improvement, relationship repair, and healthy coping strategies. Motivations for seeking help vary, but clients must have a desire for a fulfilling life free from negative consequences of substance abuse. Support and empowerment are essential in the journey to recovery.

Are you feeling overstimulated, distracted, stuck in your head, with thoughts that seem to never get really anywhere? Have you lost interest in things you used to enjoy, and even when you push yourself to do them, you don't feel the same joy that you used to? Or are you having difficulty in relationships, feeling burnt out, excessively drinking or using substances, or having trouble feeling good about yourself despite your hard work and accomplishments? We all need a compassionate person that we can trust and talk to about the difficult emotions, thoughts, relationships, and situations we are experiencing.

I appreciate you considering me as someone that may stand by you during this difficult time. The focus of my individual clinical work has been with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, identity crises, childhood trauma, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms, while tackling a plethora of general life issues. I have also worked with couples and families to resolve interpersonal issues. I am passionate about helping people in systemically oppressed groups like those in LGBTQ+, non-monogamy, and kink communities as well as any others that may find it hard to express parts of themselves. All of you is welcome!

How can I find a therapist in 32024?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
