PTSD doesn't develop only in those people who have experienced combat. You need a counselor who is aware of the many facets and forms of trauma and how they shape the person you are and how you experience the symptoms of PTSD. Veterans often have difficulty in working with therapists because many therapists have never experienced the military culture and the chaotic world of warfare. Having a therapist who is also a combat veteran enhances client trust, progress, and the working alliance. Having a counselor who is also aware of the trauma of Domestic Violence enhances your progress. I am very sensitive to the needs of PTSD people.

I'm grateful to have been working with clients toward healing, growth and connection since 2003. It's exciting to be a part of that journey and I admire the courage and commitment that it takes to make change happen. My approach to therapy is to help people identify their goals and the path they'd like to take towards meeting them. I see the therapist role as an active one, providing an honest and direct perspective while honoring each person as their own best expert on themselves and their lives. I see therapists and clients as partners in recovery.

Let’s be honest. Life gets heavy, especially when you are the strong one and everyone expects you to keep it together. My ideal clients are adults and college students in high stress seasons who are carrying things like anxiety, burnout, adult ADHD, the mental load of motherhood, identity shifts outside your roles or family/relationship/friendship wounds that still show up in daily life. I provide culturally responsive therapy with an emphasis on serving BIPOC communities. All are welcome. Adults and college students are primary. Teens 13 to 17 are accepted on a limited, case by case basis after screening for fit and readiness.

Do you suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, worry and fears? Do you have thoughts that feel intrusive and bother you a great deal? Do you sometimes feel compelled to behave in ways that you don’t understand? If this is you, you may have one of many, very common anxiety disorders that are highly treatable. With the right treatment, you can recover and live your life without being overwhelmed with worry and fear. I consider myself a coach as much as a therapist. My goal is to teach you the skills you need to be your own therapist. You can expect active and lively therapy sessions with a good deal of humor thrown in.
