My ideal clients are people who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, relationships, or life stressors and are ready for change. Many are navigating Borderline Personality Disorder, anxiety, depression, Bipolar Disorder, trauma, or ongoing relationship challenges. Often, they come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, struggling to regulate their emotions, or feeling unsure how to make progress in their personal lives. I help clients move forward by creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space and by implementing evidenced-based practices, like DBT, to help overcome the obstacles are facing.

I approach therapy with the deep belief that healing is possible. As a social worker, I’ve worked with individuals who have experienced trauma, and I want you to know that you don’t have to face this journey alone. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to speak openly, process your experiences, and begin the work of healing at your own pace.

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. We will spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy, your concerns, and what you hope to gain from counseling. I will ask questions to better understand your experiences, strengths, and goals, while also allowing space for you to share at your own pace. We may talk about your history, current challenges, and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about therapy and my approach.

Veterans, spouses, or couples who feel stuck in patterns of conflict, disconnection, or stress during major life transitions are my specialty. Many are navigating reintegration after military service, challenges in blended families, or communication struggles in their relationship. They want practical tools to improve communication, rebuild trust, and feel more connected at home as well as looking for counseling that respects their faith and allows space for Christian values to be part of the healing process. If this is ringing a bell, I am dedicated to providing a space for you to flourish and tackle life head on.

Reaching out for help for yourself or your children takes courage and openness. It can be scary but gaining insight and appropriate coping skills to better your life is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your family. I specialize in working with children under twelve but also have extensive years of experience working with all ages. I have grown a passion for working with young adults experiencing so many of life’s new challenges and changes, as they transition in college and their new lives after graduation. I believe in building a trusting relationship in a safe non-judgmental environment.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Pastor, my whole goal is to make a positive impact in the lives of those I am privileged to serve. I recognize my limitations, I can't read minds but together we can conquer what we confront and we can recover from that which is uncovered. My responsibility is to create a safe space for you to share where your hurting and provide insight and intervention to help. I know that when people come to me, they are at the most vulnerable points in their lives, and I hold those moments sacred.

You are NOT alone. We are all all survivors constantly adapting to overcome whatever obstacles we face. It can get confusing, knowing which way to go, so we use unhealthy ways to escape at times. This is where I hope to be of some help. The last 7 years have been filled with meeting those hurt, fearful, & imprisoned during some of their darkest times. It is the most fulfilling thing to see someone see themselves in a new light... to be free of the past with motivation for the future. My aim is to help my clients identify the path they are on, where they want to be, and us build the skills needed to reach their goals.

Feeling overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, or underprepared for adulting? I work with teens, young adults, and adults navigating ADHD, trauma, burnout, emotional exhaustion, relationship stress, identity questions, and perfectionism, or a persistent feeling that something in life needs to change. Many are holding things together through the constant demands of work, school, family, and life. Some describe feeling stuck, disconnected, or like they are surviving until the next crashout. But it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
