Life as you know it has changed. You were barely holding on before, and now you're struggling to adjust to life's new normal. Anxiety and/or depression may not be new to you but dealing with medical and racial pandemics simultaneously just feels like too much. Connecting with your partner seems harder now than ever before, even though you are spending more time together. All of your regular coping skills and self-care tools just don't seem to be doing the job and you are looking for relief. Believe me, I get what you're going through.

Sometimes, in spite of our preparations, life surprises us with difficult situations. I provide counseling for adult individuals and couples who have found themselves struggling with unexpected difficulties such as job loss, anxiety, and loving relationships that have grown painful. I seek to help clients to re-build the areas that have become broken and reclaim life out of the pain. Clients can expect an individualized approach that will pull from cognitive behavioral work, Gottman's relational theories, the Knowdell Career Transition Model, and more. Since 2017, I additionally offer Neurofeedback via the Othmer method.

Are you depressed? Do you feel alone in a room full of people? Do you find yourself wanting to cry but not knowing why? My favorite quote is, "The opposite of depression is not happiness, but vitality" and I wholeheartedly believe in it. Depression does not discriminate. I specialize in depression treatment among different populations- infertility, perinatal mood disorders, older adults, and midlife adults. Another speciality includes caregiving and different types of grief. You don't have to do this alone. I believe therapy makes the world a better place and you are brave for seeking help.

As a therapist, I feel it is important to provide a non-judgmental space, where you can feel safe becoming vulnerable and processing any struggles you may be going through in life. I want to give you the support you need while also fostering independence by helping you recognize your strengths and teaching you skills to gain a sense of control and ability to cope. I have experience working with teens and adults with issues such as depression, suicidality, self-harm, trauma, anxiety, and family conflict. I have also worked closely with the Hispanic community and am able to provide therapy in Spanish.

Women in their 20s-40s are often bombarded with difficult life transitions such as adulting, relationship distress, quarter-life crisis, career pursuits, parenting, caregiving, and more. This can be a lot to manage! Social pressures and the changing roles of women in this age group require a focused, feminist, and knowledgable approach. It can be tricky searching for the right therapist, so I appreciate you being here in the first place. My approach is fine tuned, using radical genuineness, to help you learn how to manage these unique stressors while maintaining authenticity and calm.

Hi! I believe every person deserves to live a life they find meaningful. To help my clients live more meaningful lives, I approach treatment alongside them and eclectically draw from various Cognitive Behavior theories along with Intersectional Feminism and Strengths-Based orientations. I strive to help my clients positively adjust their faulty or irrational ways by encouraging effective changes and/or radical acceptance of themselves and living situations. I feel empowering clients to be progressively mindful and actively involved in present life is key to them uncovering paths towards a present and future they find meaningful.

I'm a down-to-earth, millennial therapist who specializes in helping young women develop healthier relationships with themselves and others. Together, we work through difficult experiences & life transitions with the lack of self-esteem, self-worth, and self-love being the root of the issue: depression & anxiety, the break-up you can’t get over, your overbearing parent, unhealthy expectations, feeling stuck in life, the killer of joy-comparison, boundary issues in relationships, self-defeating negative thoughts, poor self-care, or even just needing a mental health check up. Any of this sound familiar? I can help!

Have you had difficulty finding a non-religious therapist? I hear that a lot! My approach to therapy is compassionate and non-judgmental. It is also secular. I believe in following science and I find Evidence Based Therapies useful. But I also believe, like Yalom, that “it’s the relationship that heals.” My personal philosophy tends to be existential.

Do you feel alone even in a room full of family and friends? Are you wearing a mask so convincing even those closest to you can’t tell? What about your relationship with your partner; is it strained? Are your attempts to communicate leading to arguments that leave you drained and frustrated? Perhaps you're in a season of transition that has you feeling overwhelmed, depressed or anxious. These are tough challenges. Presently, isolation and distancing ourselves from others has become the norm and it’s easier trying not to face them. The problem is you can’t avoid yourself. Resolution requires our attention and intentional effort.

How can I find a therapist in 30338?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
