I love working with clients who are facing divorce, custody, or other family law issues. As a family lawyer turned therapist, I bring a keen understanding of the legal system to my clinical work with individuals & couples. However, not all of my clients are getting divorced! I also enjoy working with couples who wish to improve their relationships as well as individuals seeking to grow. Many of my clients are lawyers or other professionals who value my ability to analyze issues strategically and understand the challenges of a demanding profession. Drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, & multicultural counseling traditions, I collaborate with clients to explore their concerns, set goals, & develop a plan for moving forward. My warm, empathic presence combined with my solution-focused approach allows me to provide non-judgmental support as clients tackle life's challenges.
I have experience with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, substance use, grief, trauma, & stress management. I also have considerable experience working with survivors of domestic & sexual violence & with the LGBTQ community. I have advanced training in clinical hypnotherapy, Brainspotting, and tapping which can be powerful interventions particularly for resolving trauma. I believe clients possess the knowledge and ability to change their current circumstances; the challenge is to uncover the path to make desired changes.
In addition to being a counselor, I am a Board Certified Coach, mediator, certified in collaborative divorce, & can work with couples who wish to resolve their divorce & custody issues by agreement rather than through litigation. I also serve as a guardian ad litem, parent coordinator, & co-parenting therapist. I am a frequent speaker on the benefits of mindfulness and love teaching clients accessible ways to cultivate a mindfulness practice.
