I am a clinical psychologist working with adults experiencing depression and anxiety, with specialized training in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I have a strong interest in Women's Health with a focus on pregnancy, the postpartum period and infertility. Laura offers a client centered approach to therapy, which honors each client’s individual strengths. Laura earned her Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) with an emphasis in clinical counseling from the University of Georgia. Laura’s areas of interest include communication skills, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and coping with life changes such as moves and/or acclimating to new schools. Laura enjoys assisting teens with coping skills to manage the stress of balancing academics, sports, and peer relationships. Additionally, Laura has experience in supporting children and teens who have been impacted by a family member’s substance abuse.

Throughout my years of studying Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I've gained experience working with a wide range of clientele. Hello! I work with young adults, teens and children who are struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, life transitions, and other struggles. My goal as a counselor is to provide a safe relationship in which you can be heard without judgment, and to challenge you to take practical steps towards healing and emotional health.

There are many things to consider when starting therapy. It can be overwhelming to find a good therapist who is also a good fit. I specialize in mood disorders (anxiety, depression and bipolar d/o) and OCD (obsessive-compulsive d/o) with clients of a diverse age range. I also work with clients who have long-standing relational and personality issues. I work from a holistic model and I help clients to make small changes across many areas of their lives: physical and mental health, social support, stress reduction, spirituality/faith (if there is a desire to incorporate it), while holding the cultural context of each person in mind.

Westlynn Benton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with adults, children and families for over 30 years in a variety of setting including pediatric hospitals, private practice, schools, in-home settings and through telehealth. Westlynn received her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master's degree of Social Work from the University of Georgia.
