Are you struggling with chronic stress, upsetting memories, episodes of anger, panic, irritability? Are you feeling depressed or numb? Difficult life experiences like traumas and ongoing stress cause these symptoms. Other symptoms like procrastination, forgetfulness, being late for appointments, and impulsive thoughts and actions come from genetic inheritance as with ADHD. It is relieving to know the biology behind these conditions and the methods to use that relieve, reduce, and stop the symptoms and their spreading.

The world can be a challenge when we’re not valued for who we are. If you've ever felt unseen, misunderstood, or like you're constantly adapting to fit into systems that weren’t built for you—you’re not alone. Therapy with me is a space where all parts of you are welcome. I offer a trauma-informed approach to therapy, drawing on evidence-based modalities and body-centered wisdom. My work is especially attuned to the lived experiences of individuals who identify as neurodiverse, and I support those navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, and life transitions. You can find my website here: taradawntherapy dot com

My ideal client feels overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, or major life changes, and wants meaningful, lasting change. They may look “put together” on the outside but feel stuck or disconnected inside. They want clarity, healthier coping skills, and a safe space to be honest without judgment. Ultimately, they want to understand their emotions, break old patterns, and build a grounded, purposeful life with support that’s compassionate, direct, and practical.

Hi! So...you're looking for a therapist but the process has you feeling more overwhelmed than you already were. Take a moment, take a deep breath. It feels like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, I know. You feel like days became months became years and now this life you're living doesn't much resemble the life you truly want if you're honest. Chronic stress, trauma, and really hard life experiences are taking a toll on your mind, body, and spirit. The fatigue, the feeling that your body is maxing out, the worry that you can't go on much longer like this - this is your deep knowing that something has to give.

Hi, I'm Danielle! Life’s complicated — especially when ADHD, grief, or trauma are in the mix. I’m especially passionate about working with teens, parents and COUPLES where ADHD has been misunderstood or overlooked, because those “small” misunderstandings can quietly become big barriers to connection. ADHD is not just about forgetfulness or inattention- it can be rejection sensitivity, emotional dysregulation, difficulties managing finances and at times total burn out and shut down. I work to help individuals and families to untangle the “why” behind what’s not working and help you find strategies that actually stick.

Hello. I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in working with individuals and couples who wish to explore and navigate life transitions, relational struggles and desires, and change long-embedded patterns that may be hurting rather than helping. In sessions, we attune to conscious and unconscious patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that comprise the themes of our lives and relations. Such patterns may have had excellent reasons for arising, but may no longer be serving. I work with individuals and couples so that you may experience less misery and more thriving and connection.

Life can be extremely difficult creating feelings of discouragement and hopelessness that hinder the ability to see a solution. Perhaps, you have tried so many times you just feel like giving up. You may try to relieve your suffering or intense emotions by using maladaptive coping strategies such as substances, food, sex, or acting in ways that harm yourself or those you care about. These choices may have left you feeling even worse, isolated, and all alone. You may even feel that you do not belong or fit in. You are at the point to where you just want to understand yourself and regain a sense of control in your life.

I encourage my clients to identify and express their feelings and to more fully understand their personal frames of reference. I often use a practical approach, focusing on the development of short and long-term goals, looking at what has and hasn't worked in the past and examining the potential consequences of various courses of action and points of view. I also guide consideration of how the past continues to affect the present. I use a wide range of therapeutic activities to facilitate the therapeutic relationship and process. My goal is to help you reach yours. I hope you'll give me that opportunity.

My goal is to meet my clients in the moment they are in, and invite them into a deeply safe experience of expanded possibility and curiosity. Connected more deeply to themselves, crucial feelings, fundamental beliefs and significant memories can emerge and be held with respect and kindness. Important individual and relational needs and healing can then be discovered, recognized, and realized.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
