I love helping people & couples rediscover themselves. Sometimes it feels like we get lost along the way, buried in the needs of relationships or caregiving. We become what others have wanted or needed and when it gets to the breaking point, we find we don't even know what we want or need to feel whole again. I have many years of working with people starting over. Often the grief of what was and the anxiety of what comes next can make it hard to listen to your own voice. Through learning to quiet internal activation bells and strip away the judgements inherited from others, I work with clients to redefine what is important.

LGBTQIA+ allied. Parenting/grief/direct care-friendly.

I love working with people navigating life’s events, non-events, transitions, losses, and traumas. This is powerful work, and I feel honored to walk alongside in witness and support, helping people tap into their own wisdom and discover their own paths forward. The therapist-client relationship is a collaboration. Not rescue. Not prescription. Not advice. The therapeutic relationship involves slow, careful, reflective listening, and paraphrasing, summarizing, and clarifying. My clients arrive with depression, anxiety, trauma, self doubt, and confusion. They walk away with confidence, strength, insight, and authentic solutions.

We are all deeply impacted by a variety of factors. Our upbringing. Our experiences. Genetics and biology. Culture, race, sexuality, ethnicity and gender. Who we may have lost in our lives. Our physical abilities and/or limitations. These components and more have worked to create over 8 billion unique individuals. What factors have impacted you? What has helped you to thrive and survive? What creates worry or dread? What contributes to feelings of heaviness or being out of sorts? These are some of the questions that will be instrumental in how we approach therapy together.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist with over 35 years of experience I believe you are coming to me as a fellow pilgrim, journeying toward healing that comes when deepest concerns are shared safely with another human being. My approach invites reflection and the creation of a space where you can move at your own pace. When you tell me your story which may be painful, even terrible for you, I desire to stay with you and provide emotional presence especially when the going gets rough.

My people are service industry workers, neurodivergent humans, folks who have done hard drugs, and girls who can't sit in a chair properly. Maybe what you've been doing isn't working out, and you're unsure where to go from here. Or maybe things are finally working out but everything still feels scary. If this is ringing a bell for you, call me. My approach involves cultivating neutrality, practicing acceptance, and building mind-body awareness to help you understand how the past is showing up now. Together, we will find ways you can feel better, find more autonomy in life, and make informed decisions about where to go from here.

Therapy is about exploring where you are and where you want to go. It's about envisioning the life you want and understanding what's holding you back. Sometimes we get so caught up in our stories, we forget that we can change. Yet we are so resilient! I love helping people befriend themselves and celebrate all of who they are. Together we can face your most trying moments with grace and integrity. We can identify obstacles, and explore practical solutions. I value giving you the support and perspective you need to feel grounded and whole.

Welcome, I’m glad you’re here. Taking the first step toward seeking help is both challenging and courageous. Acknowledging your need for support shows your commitment to improving your well-being. Do you often feel like an outsider—lonely and confused by a society where you struggle to belong? Does your overwhelming anxiety make it hard to relate to people or to complete tasks? Does your fear of abandonment keep you in cycles of self-sabotage and ruin your relationships? Or do you have this nagging feeling that people are out to get you or are watching you, a feeling that you can’t seem to shake after your attempts to get relief?

When I was an adolescent I was a Bart Simpson. I was routinely sent to the office, struggled with peer relationships and had frequent conflicts with authority figures. I relate well with teen and young adult males because I still partake in lifting, skating, and gaming. It can be difficult navigating the labyrinths of life, be it conflicts with parents, the effects of divorce, the aftermath of abuse, etc. Long story short, with good decisions and coping skills, you can overcome your problems and correct the course of your ship.

Hi! I'm so glad you're here. You probably found this nook of the internet if you relate to your mind never slowing down, constantly overthinking, perfectionizing, masking, or carrying the weight of being called “too much;" you’re not alone. You may look high-performing on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or exhausted underneath it all. From ADHD/AuDHD to CPTSD (so many letters, right?), there is a space for you to be known.

I work with women who appear to have it all together on the outside but internally feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who they are anymore. Maybe you've spent so long caring for everyone else that you've lost sight of yourself. Your mind rarely slows down, you're emotionally exhausted, or you feel disconnected from your body. Perhaps you're navigating anxiety, depression, a difficult life transition, relationship challenges, or wondering why life no longer feels as meaningful as it once did. If you're longing to feel more grounded, more connected, and more like yourself again, you're in the right place.

My ideal client is a teen or adult that is struggling to figure out what they are missing. They are realizing that life's challenges seem harder for them than they are for others. They may be having challenges with their personal relationships. They may be feeling unable to complete tasks they used to accomplish easily. They may be feeling depressed and anxious. I specialize in working with late-identified autistic teens and adults, as well as teens and adults with ADHD. I also have experience and enjoy working with folks that experience depression, anxiety, substance use challenges, trauma, and/or PTSD symptoms.

Do you feel like you live with contradictions in yourself? Do you know that is normal? Anxiety. Frustration. Depression. All of these feelings are part of being human. Yet, sometimes those feelings can become overwhelming; they can feel like limits instead of emotions. I enjoy working with people to figure out solutions so you can find balance in your life. Because life is exactly that - a balance, between your internal and external emotions, your social & physical needs, and your surrounding environment. Balancing all that through life’s changes, events and transitions is often challenging.

I help adults who are grieving a death or navigating profound loss such as relationship loss, caregiving, health changes, and identity shifts. Grief leaves people exhausted, confused, or unsure how to carry on while living in a world that expects us to return to "normal" fast. Often grief is accompanied by traumatic events that need to be processed for grieving to take place. Grief can be complicated when there is little support, or the loss is taboo, or there is guilt and regret. Grief counseling helps focus on processing the difficult things that stand in the way of finding meaning and feeling connected.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
