Your grief is welcome here. Every type of loss has the potential to be life disrupting, but grief experienced after suicide or other traumatic loss can be particularly challenging. After someone you know dies, you may feel: shock, confusion, doubt, crushing pain, heartbreak, loneliness, despair, anxiety, overwhelm, anger, guilt, and isolation. Your life has been turned upside down in an instant. You feel lost. You may not even be sure who you are anymore, but you know you won’t be the same. You’re looking for a guide. Someone who gets it and can handle what you’ve got going on.

My ideal clients are adults navigating meaningful life transitions—starting or leaving a job, ending a relationship, facing a medical diagnosis, grieving a loss, or moving through a spiritual awakening. They are seeking calm, clarity, and resilience as they navigate change. Many want to understand and shift the patterns that hold them back, deepen authenticity and intimacy in their relationships, and engage more fully with their lives. They feel called to tap into their inner strength, expand their perspective, and cultivate equanimity through greater self-awareness and self-acceptance.

I have been providing therapy since 2000, and I specialize in counseling adults who want long-lasting relief from depression, anxiety, and need better, and more complete ways to heal. I'm always a guinea pig for new ways of working with the anxiety-depresson spiral. Once I discovered gentle, yet powerful ways of healing, for myself, I knew that the people I work best with would also find both relief and growth.

Intrusive thoughts, overwhelming feelings, a never-ending sense of never doing or being enough. You feel stuck and you can't seem to get free of this nagging sense of inadequacy, loneliness, and longing to be perfect. The pain is so unbearable, you work harder and longer and hustle more to prove your worth and then get swallowed in soul sucking shame for being so powerless to change. It's hard to stay present, you're stuck in your head and you've tried everything to feel better. It hurts and you can't find your way out.

The work I do is grounded in honoring people’s stories—especially the parts that have been carried in silence for generations. I specialize in supporting women, parents, neurodivergent individuals, and those who identify as cycle breakers: people doing the courageous work of healing wounds that didn’t start with them. Much of my work centers on helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, identity shifts, and relationship challenges through a lens of compassion and curiosity. Whether you're in the early stages of self-discovery or deep in the process of unlearning patterns, I offer a space to feel safe, seen, and supported.

To me, the most important things I do as a psychologist are to listen to you carefully and attentively; and to respond in such a way that you feel heard and understood on a deep level. Many people come to psychotherapy feeling their problems or symptoms don't make sense, leaving them feeling worried or discouraged. In our meetings, we will discuss your feelings and experiences, so you can learn more about what you do feel, and how your feelings do in fact make sense, given what you've been through in your life.

I've been a therapist for over 19 years and feel uniquely suited to serve clients of all ages. I spent 10 years as a therapist for middle schoolers. Since 2015, I've been a therapeutic consultant helping families find treatment options for their adolescents and young adults. I've helped couples become more aligned and families develop their skills. In my work, I often hold someone's anxiety, foster their accountability process, and reflect insights from my perspective. I enjoy walking alongside my clients as they celebrate transitions, develop skills, and lead a value-driven life.

You wake up, do your self-care practices, and feel aligned. But then, the day pulls you outward. You hold space, offer guidance, and meet unseen needs – for everyone else. And you do it beautifully. The world sees you as a master who artfully holds it all together. But by day's end, an emptiness lingers in your soul. Your inner wisdom whispers, telling you what you already know – that you’re living for others instead of pursuing your own creative callings. You long to course-correct, but doubt creeps in. It tells you there’s no time or that pausing is a type of failure. You long for more, but you’re unsure how to claim it.

People often come to me when they are exhausted from holding everything together and ready to explore new ways of being - in their bodies, in their inner world, and in their relationships. Together, we work to forge different pathways – ones that foster steadiness, self-compassion, and meaningful change. I work with adults (ages 25+) and have a specialized focus on supporting an older adult population (ages 60+). I encourage you to take that first step in your own healing if you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or navigating a profound life transition – medical diagnosis, divorce, grief, anticipatory grief, and aging issues.

Life transitions are a part of our journey and, while some are rewarding, some are a challenge. Whether you are struggling with something personally or professionally, you could benefit from working with a therapist who understands and can help guide you through the work to initiate change in your life. My approach is holistic, honest, and interactive with a little humor thrown in when needed. Clients appreciate my authenticity and ability to “be real” with them regarding how best to tackle current issues and concerns. I encourage my clients to start with small steps and move toward what speaks to their heart and their values.

Even the most self-aware humans can experience periods of confusion, stuckness, and destabilization, and oftentimes suffering has unconscious roots. I've dedicated my training and education as a helping professional to learn how to unlock messages from the unconscious to promote healing and well-being. I also strive to arm my clients with concrete tools to use independently, long after our work together is completed. I have many years of experience helping people heal, blending a variety of nontraditional and expressive therapeutic approaches with evidence-based interventions to meet the individual needs of the people I serve.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
