Here’s a bedtime story. Once upon a time there was an exasperated parent and a frustrated child. Every day they would wake up in the morning and start arguing. And they wouldn’t stop! The arguing went on all day long until they were both so tired that they really didn’t know what they were arguing about anymore. They argued so much that they both forgot what it was like to enjoy being together. One day the parent saw an ad for a type of counseling called play therapy that would help both of them with their relationship. And because the parent really didn’t like all the arguing, she decided to try it.

Life is tough. There are many trials and hardships we experience and sometimes we carry all of that with us until we reach a point where we stop feeling like ourselves or have never truly found the self we wanted to be. I am here to help you find the self you desire and have been wanting to reach. Together, we will work to overcome the obstacles life has put up and work towards healing from areas of the past that have held you for too long. I am a firm believer that when we take the first step in taking care of ourselves mentally, emotionally. physically, and/or spiritually, our perspective starts to change and restoration begins.

Life sometimes tends to get in the way of a person's happiness. Sometimes a person may feel overwhelmed that they do not have anyone to talk to. Family members are not a resource that a client may want to utilize in their moment of distress. I want my clients to feel that they have a resource and someone to help them through the different avenues of life. I want my clients too know they are not alone, and they have someone to help them navigate through their struggles. I have worked with families of different backgrounds and have met them where they are in life. I'm here to help you develop and learn new options.

Finding the right therapist is sometimes difficult. Therapy starts with finding someone who matches your personality and developing a relationship with an individual that you can trust. I believe in learning about who you are, the complete picture, and helping you define and achieve the goals that are important to you. No judgment, just a safe place to work through things you would otherwise bottle up. I will challenge you to feel things, learn to choose better paths even when normally you might choose the same old thing that makes you feel stuck.

Clients may be a little apprehensive at first because it can be hard opening up to someone you don't know and it is really hard to self-reflect. No matter the issues, I am here to help my clients identify their goals, remove the barriers that keep them from their goals, and provide the necessary coping skills to improve the symptoms they are experiencing.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
