On the outside, you are the picture of success. But inside, you are deeply anxious and insecure. Despite being successful, hardworking, and seemingly happy, life is really hard for you. You constantly overthink and replay past conversations and situations over and over again in your head. You find yourself saying "yes" to people, when you really want to say "no" and get frustrated and resentful. Your fear of failure drives you to throw yourself into work, but you're exhausted and unhappy with yourself. You have FOMO, but are sometimes so full of self doubt that you avoid social interactions. You just want to feel more confident.

The relationships in your life seem increasingly difficult to manage. Maybe the relationship with one or both your parents is challenging, or your interactions with your intimate partner continues to become more complicated. You feel that the emotional energy and time you have put into the relationship has left you exhausted. Or maybe you find it difficult to find meaningful connections with your peers. You’ve struggled with your relationships your whole life or it’s a new challenge after a big move or transition. Regardless of the reason, you feel disconnected, lonely, and anxious.

Nature's Way Holistic Counseling offers clinical mental health counseling with the addition of a health and wellness framework that connects the body, mind, and spirit. We believe in the term "holistic" counseling because our minds are not independent of all other aspects of life, but is dependent upon the complex, interconnected factors of life, including the food we eat, the environment in which we live, and the content we consume. Although some counseling services address these topics on some level, there is a gap in the field of practitioners offering such a comprehensive evaluation.

However, there are several barriers that prevent us from getting the most out of life such as depression, addiction, grief, loss, low self-esteem, feeling disconnected and unfulfilled. Together, we will explore present day conflicts, especially relationship and attachment issues, which have prevented you from achieving your goals in life. Chronic illnesses are incredibly difficult to cope with, for the diagnosed individual as well as the caregiver. Chronic illnesses can disrupt your life in many ways, and open the door for depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and stress. Whether you have been diagnosed or caring for someone who has been diagnosed, you can still live a meaningful and fulfilling life. I believe in meeting my clients where they are, as well as a holistic approach to therapy which includes providing support to the individual as a whole and not only their mental health needs. The physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being matter just as well.

None of us go through life without experiencing changes or life transitions. We struggle with depression and fight off our anxiety. We go through our day on autopilot, lacking energy, and feeling hopeless. We isolate ourselves from friends and family, we feel misunderstood, or we temporarily escape reality & lessen our pain with alcohol, drugs, food, etc. Resisting change causes us pain and creates additional stress and anxiety in our lives. Acceptance and embracing change begins the healing. If we approach transitions with curiosity rather than fear, and intention rather than reluctance, we can respond to change and foster growth.

I am a strong believer in healthy relationships. When our relationships shift towards dysfunctional, they can become more stressful than comforting. I work with adults in individual, couple, and family therapy to create more balanced relationships, with themselves and others. Together we explore issues related to intergenerational trauma, dysfunctional relationship patterns, and family issues. These issues often look like disconnection, unresolvable issues, uneven work-life balance, and people pleasing. My clients often identify has Highly Sensitive People (HSP) or as therapists and healers. If this sounds like you, let's chat!

How can I find a therapist in 28203?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
