I believe counseling and therapy can help deal with everyday stressors, major life changes, and major or minor mental health issues. I strive to provide a safe, supportive environment to explore the challenges and difficulties you are facing. My goal is to assist you at challenging times in your life by examining your behaviors, feelings, and thoughts and identify what you can change to improve your life. Using your strengths, we will look for ways to deal with those difficulties.
I will work with you by considering how your personality and beliefs about yourself and others contribute to the difficulties you face. I tailor my counseling approach to your needs, drawing from a variety of theoretical approaches including cognitive and systems theory.
An interest of mine is working with individuals and families dealing with chronic illness and/or disability. In my experience all family members are affected when one member in the family deals with an illness or disability. I am familiar with special education procedures and recognize the challenges families face when dealing with school problems.
