Hi there! I am a Resident in Counseling under the supervision of Dayna Kumar, LPC. I specialize in working with children and young families, particularly mothers of young children. I work with children with behavioral challenges as well as children with ADHD, anxiety, OCD, & autism spectrum disorders. I also work with parents of neurodiverse children as they work to understand and support their child while finding balance in their family lives. I believe that as parents, your relationship with your child is your superpower. Together, we’ll find the tools you need to strengthen that connection and make your family life work for you.

Hi there! My name is Jessica, and I am a Resident in Counseling with Ivy Road Center for Psychotherapy. I have a background working with a diverse range of clients, including adults, college-age individuals, young children, and couples. I can support adults in managing anxiety or depression, guide college students through academic and personal stressors, assist children through play-therapy, and help foster meaningful connections in couples. At each session, I strive to bring empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of human behavior.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in the mental health private practice industry since 1998 and licensed since 2000. I provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families to help them achieve personal growth, balance, and wellness. I have spent much of my experience working with adolescents and adults. My approach to therapy is primarily cognitive-behavioral emphasizing solution-focused therapy. I include clients in the development of personalized treatment plans and will use a holistic approach, which means I may use different methods to help you meet your goals including reality therapy, family systems therapy and homework.

People often seek out therapy when they are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or alone. These feelings may cause symptoms of anxiety, depression, difficulty managing anger, or dependance on food or substances to cope. As a therapist I enjoy creating a relationship that is warm, consistent, caring and safe to explore difficult feelings or experiences while figuring out what symptoms like anxiety, or depression are trying to tell us. Our program is designed for those wanting to recover from addiction but finding that once a week treatment appointments are not enough but don't meet criteria for a residential program. Clients in our program attend 3 three-hour meetings a week for 12 weeks. Each client starts with a full diagnostic assessment and medical evaluation by our medical director. Program content is educational, clinical treatment, and 12-step work. We have rolling admissions so you can start within a few days of first calling us. Groups are run by a male and a female therapist. We encourage family participation.

I am trained in EMDR for relief of trauma and both behavioral and psychodynamic/talking therapies which emphasize positive habits, good health and personal insight. Any change starts from within and sometimes we all need another perspective to grasp the whole picture so that problems or obstacles can be sensibly, sensitively and effectively handled. I work from a strengths-based orientation whereby the talents, skills, and interests can be identified. So we go from there, to where the individual learns to utilize those strengths in resolving problems, conflicts, stressors as well as finding sources of comfort, competence and confidence.

I believe that, within the context of a supportive relationship, people can understand their problems in new ways and learn skills towards leading healthier and more fulfilling lives. I utilize a strengths-based approach that incorporates cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and systemic interventions. People see the most change when doctors, psychologists, teachers, and other players are working together. Thus, with your permission, I consult with others in order to better understand the problem and provide solutions that expand beyond the therapy room. When appropriate, I will be your advocate.

I specialize in treating trauma and utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy to guide individuals through reprocessing what they have experienced in order to cultivate healing and growth from their traumas. I have helped survivors of a wide variety of traumatic events including but not limited to; sexual assault, childhood abuse, combat related trauma, and domestic violence.

I am a firm believer in evidence based treatments and have extensive training and practice in such. That being said, I recognize that "evidence" is usually based on outcomes of clinical trials with very controlled environments where very specific populations with very specific diagnoses are treated. Thus, I find that I am most effective when adapting, integrating and tailoring treatments to my clients' individual needs.
