You might look like you’re holding everything together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, perfectionistic, or emotionally exhausted underneath. Maybe anxiety has become your normal, relationships feel heavy, or you’ve spent so much time caring for others that you’ve lost connection with yourself.

I believe our lives are shaped by relationships - our connections with others, the world around us, and with ourselves. When something feels off or disconnected, it often signals that one or more of these relationships needs attention. Therapy offers a space to slow down and explore these patterns with curiosity, compassion, and honesty. Together, we can deepen awareness of what’s happening beneath the surface, untangle what feels stuck, and move toward greater balance and connection. I approach therapy with authenticity and a collaborative spirit, honoring your lived experience while bringing clinical insight and a steady presence.

I work with clients who feel mentally exhausted from overthinking their relationships. They replay conversations in their mind, question their decisions, and worry they keep repeating the same relationship patterns. Despite appearing capable and successful in many areas of life, they may feel lonely, discouraged about relationships, or unsure how to balance their own needs with external expectations. These struggles often become more visible during life transitions—such as ending a relationship, starting to date again, or redefining family expectations. During these moments deeper questions about identity and belonging can emerge.

We live in a world that is fast-paced and focused on quick solutions. I work to create a space for clients that goes against this. I believe true healing and growth is intentional, mindful, and rooted in connection with others.
I believe that when a person experiences a safe environment and authentic relationship through therapy, they will move towards growth, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and an improved self-concept. My role is not to be the expert on your life, but to walk alongside you offering empathy, authenticity, and respect as you access your own insight, resilience, and sense of direction.

If you're overwhelmed, stuck in your own head, or tired from trying to "hold it all together", you are not alone. I enjoy helping teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, ADHD, overthinking, and depressed learn how to feel more grounded, confident, and more able to manage their lives and relationships. Maybe your mind is always running. Maybe you are easily triggered, on edge, and overwhelmed. Maybe your emotions feel dysregulated or "shut down" when you feel stressed. Maybe you appear to be doing well on the outside, but inside you feel anxious, distracted, and burned out. You want tools that "actually" work.

In person openings in Fairfax City. I believe in authentic, creative connection, deep listening, and honest reflection. I believe you are enough, just as you are, and that we weren't meant to navigate this journey alone. I find that our experiences, particularly traumatic ones, are stored in our bodies, and many times we can't access them through verbal expression. Art therapy enters in when words might not exist. Somatic practices help strengthen the mind/body connection, welcoming the body's innate wisdom to assist in our ability to resource, regulate, process, and heal.

Some mornings your mind is already sprinting before your feet hit the floor. Your discernment and intuition has helped you advance in your career. Yet lately you’ve been noticing those moments when you’re just… unsettled. You still show up, because that’s who you are. Work gets done, people get cared for, the world doesn’t skip a beat. But internally? You feel a little unanchored, a little less you than you remember being.
Women often find me when they’ve been holding everything together for so long that their body finally starts signaling it’s too much.

You may have tried therapy before and found it helpful for a while, but not enough. Or you've been told what's wrong without being given real tools to change it. At Plum BHS, we offer something more structured: full DBT and RO-DBT programs delivered by a trained clinical team via telehealth across eight states. DBT is designed for adults who struggle with intense emotions, impulsive behaviors, unstable relationships, or chronic self-harm. RO-DBT is for the opposite, adults who cope by shutting down, overcontrolling, or holding everything together while feeling empty inside.
If either of those sounds like you, we'd like to talk.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
