We provide specialized individual and group therapy, and provide therapy for a wide range of children, adolescent, and adult clients. We welcome those who are struggling with life issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, coping, gender identity, mood disorders, relationship issues, sexuality, and addictions. We believe that the situations we experience impact us, but do not define us. Our clinicians are trained to help you reach your full potential and overcome difficult situations.

Complacency is not always a good thing, sometimes you must be uncomfortable to be successful. We as humans need help from neutral parties to help us understand things that have been passed down generation to generation, to process the unspoken, the unknown, and many other difficult conversations we don’t want to have with people that know us. As the spouse of a retired military service member, my passion is working with people whose work is serving others; military service members, health care professionals, government employees and teachers. I am a systems therapist and look at how each person is impacted by their entire system i.e. family, friends, work and school. My goal is to help people learn more about themselves, the choices they make, how they communicate with others and how they cope with the stresses of life. Communication can be difficult for kids with Autism; they find it much harder to have conversations and relate with other people. Some children with the disorder have difficulties in developing, understanding, or using spoken language, while some have no verbal language at all. Some have a hard time with eye contact, while others can’t understand the importance of the exchange of facial expressions and gestures. That’s not to say kids on the Autism don’t communicate at all – they certainly do. But they have their own way of doing it, like using words in unconventional ways.

Additionally, her experiences as a military spouse have coincided with her career path and continue to foster not only who she is as an individual, but also as a professional, which is why she chooses to become a licensed professional counselor. Kara’s therapeutic interests continue to be working with adolescents, veterans, and military families through utilizing an integrative counseling approach tailored to the specific needs of her individual clients.

I am a Marine Corps Veteran, so my true passion is to help my fellow veterans and military families within their therapeutic process. Whether this be through the individual aspect, through the couples’ aspect, or the child/adolescent needs of coping with the struggles of the military lifestyle. I strive to help the military family in any way possible. From having the hands-on experience of being active duty as well as currently being a military spouse, I plan to help your family through your time of distress and turmoil.

I retired from the military after serving for 30 years and now dedicated to serving his community in battling mental health concerns. I work with all populations including, children, elders, and families. My education and life experiences are tools that I use in the therapeutic process. My goal is to help solve some of the challenging situations in your life to be viewed clearer, making your response to the challenge more effective.

Where relationships have not given you what you needed, felt unsafe, or limited your self-expression, I can help you show up more authentically. If you need space to express emotions that haven’t been accepted or valued, explore parts of you that haven’t been welcomed, or try new ways of communicating your needs, I can be alongside you. It can feel risky or vulnerable to be fully yourself and acknowledge the protectors or adaptors you might previously have needed. I lean on family systems, attachment, and trauma models to help you name and unburden yourself of inner conflicts, limiting beliefs, unmet needs, and unresolved pain.

I remember when I started looking for a counselor. I knew things were not right but I wondered were they so bad that I needed to go to a stranger for help. After tossing around the idea in my head I worked up the courage to start calling people. Most counselors never returned my call which was frustrating and disheartening. Still, I held out a tiny shred of hope and found myself sitting on someones couch looking at my life.
