Feeling isolated, alone, or frustrated? Are you feeling stuck with no direction? As humans we sometimes experience these feelings and struggle to move forward. We become anxious, depressed, and lack the skills necessary to put one foot in front of the other, becoming overwhelmed and stressed. The ability to change our mindset and focus on our strengths is a major step in making the change necessary to move ahead in life, one step at a time. If you envision a happier, healthier version of yourself, I believe I can help you or someone you love find direction and take that first step.

Are you the one who finally needs answers? You may be a parent watching your child struggle in school, only to be told they are "fine." A neurodivergent adult who has spent years masking and is exhausted. A veteran or law enforcement officer who needs evaluations that actually understand their world, or a professional whose brain works in ways that traditional systems were never built for. Wherever you are arriving from, you deserve a clinician who sees you accurately, names what is true, and gives you a path forward that fits your actual life.

I work with children, teens, and adults who are navigating trauma, life transitions, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, identity concerns, and relationship challenges. Many of my clients have experienced difficult or painful events that continue to influence how they view themselves, relate to others, and move through the world. They may feel stuck in survival mode, disconnected from themselves, weighed down by self-doubt, or struggling to make sense of experiences that continue to impact them. Together, we create space to process those experiences, build self-understanding, and foster healing, growth, and lasting change.

For much of my career, I was the person others turned to in difficult moments. During nearly 30 years in law enforcement, including serving as a police lieutenant, I worked alongside people facing trauma, loss, high stress, and life-changing events. I understand what it feels like to carry responsibility, put others first, and keep moving forward even when you're struggling yourself. Today, as a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student and therapist under the supervision of a licensed professional, I help adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.

I have been working with people in the behavioral health arena since 1984. I see many diverse individuals who have been living with many different issues. I feel that it is important to meet the individual where they are, and with them determine what types of change will be facilitated by therapy. I currently see a number of individuals who are battling substance abuse in addition to other life issues. My goals are to help motivate the individual to change and then help them to make and maintain the changes they need to make.

I believe healing is about more than managing symptoms—it is about reconnecting with yourself, building self-trust, and creating a life that feels authentic and aligned. The ways we think, feel, and respond are often shaped by experiences that taught our nervous systems how to protect us. Together, we explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, creating the conditions for deeper, embodied healing and transformation. My work is rooted in EMDR therapy and guided by a holistic understanding of the mind, body, and nervous system. I integrate parts work, somatic approaches, mindfulness, and ACT to support lasting change.

I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, stress, identity concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. Many of my clients are used to carrying a lot for others while struggling silently themselves. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and culturally sensitive space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and comfortable showing up as themselves. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, human, and tailored to each individual rather than one-size-fits-all. My goal is to help clients feel more grounded, self-aware, and supported. I also speak Urdu and Hindi.

Reaching out for therapy can be a vulnerable step, and finding the right therapist is important. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the need to have everything figured out. I view therapy as a collaborative journey. While I bring the clinical knowledge and skills to the process, I believe that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we will work to better understand your experiences, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop strategies that support your goals.

It is not uncommon to find ourselves overwhelmed or struggling at some point in our lives. During those times, having an objective and unbiased person to talk to can provide clarity and support to ultimately foster growth and resilience in your personal narrative. I absolutely love working with clients through difficult life transitions, relationship issues, intimacy, LGBTQ+, sexuality, kink, and ENM/Poly relationships. Being able to find your own boundaries and personal integrity through this can be so rewarding. Additionally, I have a soft spot for clients with infertility struggles and determining their own definition of family.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
