I specialize in the mental health of adult women. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by the painful thoughts running through their minds all day. Perhaps it is an unrelenting self critic who never lets you feel good enough. Or a list of anxious “what if’s” that keeps you awake at night, preparing for the worst. For some, it is scary, shameful thoughts that come out of nowhere. Others feel haunted by a frightening or confusing experience from the past. You feel stressed, depressed, or ashamed and you see the effect on your behavior, work, and relationships. To schedule, please EMAIL for quickest response.

Wondering if you'll ever feel different than you do right now? I hear you. You feel stuck. For so much of your life, others have told you who and how to be. You try desperately to keep up with appearances but you feel like the token person in most spaces. While they describe you as hardworking, passionate, and driven, YOU see what's under the mask: you're overbooked, distracted, burnt-out. You want to truly connect with yourself, to understand what's important to you, and to feel really seen by people you care about. You want more out of your life; instead of a fog, you'd like to wake up in the morning with a sense of clarity.

One focus we have is working with those who are suffering from trauma. Being a survivor means you've lived through the tragedy or abuse but now dealing with life can be distorted and hard. It hurts inside. Offering help with all Anxiety Types, Complex Posttraumatic Stress, OCD, and Dissociative Identity Disorder and other disorders. The second focus is to help in marriages, as marriage is very important to Christ. It is a covenant made between a husband and wife with Christ together. Help is professional in Theology and Psychology. Perhaps today is the time to be in touch with Dr. Kleckner. There is hope for your future.

Are you a woman who appears to have it all together on the outside but on the inside you experience relentless self-criticism, anxiety, rage, or even emptiness? Maybe you’ve been struggling since pregnancy or the birth of a new baby, leaving you overwhelmed and alone in mixed emotions. Are painful experiences from the past preventing you from being present each day and living life to the fullest? I understand the unique challenges that women face, whether it’s the societal pressures of being accommodating and self-sacrificing 24/7, balancing multiple roles with limited support, relationship issues, or childhood trauma(s).

Licensed in VA, MD, and MA! It's a new year! Often we are successful in one area of our life but feel that another area is not going as well as we would like. Finding balance can leave us feeling overwhelmed. While we are all the experts on our own lives, sometimes we need the perspective of another person in order to see ourselves more clearly. Helping to better understand yourself and the strengths you already possess can lead to positive change which ideally will result in living a more authentic, balanced, and enriching life. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore your challenges.

I firmly believe that my clients know more about themselves than I do. I view therapy as a journey and strive to learn from my clients as much as I hope they learn from me along the way. If you are open-minded, willing to be challenged, and willing to learn, our journey will be rewarding.

Life is full of changes, wanted and unwanted! I am here to help with anything that may arise. Sometimes our minds are not always helpful and I would enjoy the opportunity to be a part of the positive changes that occur to conquering those negative thoughts that can come up. The goal is to continue growth throughout life and I would love to be a part of the support system to make positive changes.

Are you feeling tired, run down, frustrated or hopeless? You're struggling with the never ending challenges and transitions life throws at you. Your plate is so full, you can't possibly take on another thing, yet, here you are...taking on one more thing. You are constantly taking care of others, but your name never makes it to the top of the list. You're sick and tired of being sick and tired. Maybe you're a young adult that is struggling to see the point in life, or maybe you're a parent that is at the end of your rope. You desperately need something to change...but what?

These days, our stress can feel overwhelming. I provide a safe, caring environment for adults to slow down, find their center, and make space for what needs attention. I use a body-centered mindfulness approach called Hakomi to gently explore how each client organizes their own life experience. Learning to become safely embodied is a vital step towards healing. Through this moment-to-moment mind/body exploration, not only are core beliefs and protective strategies revealed, but also pathways towards change. Our own natural instinct towards healing awaits our readiness to unfold.

How can I find a therapist in 21740?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
