You need to talk to someone. You're in a stressful place in your life. Not only is your desire for clarity and comfort at its peak, your need to find the right therapist is a leap of faith. Seeing me, you may find our sessions to be empowering, challenging, yet comfortable, and at times humorous. You can become energized by the unfolding of your story, gaining new insights into your thoughts and feelings that are no longer working for you. Many with whom I work find a significant lift by learning to cope with anxiety and depression, without the need for medication.

I love to work with motivated people who are experiencing transitions in their lives. These life disruptions, even the "exciting" ones, may reveal anticipated and unanticipated challenges that are difficult to navigate. You might be a new (or experienced) college student trying to figure out why campus programs and services that work for others are not helping you. Perhaps you are a student athlete moving toward your career goals and finding daily life surprisingly challenging. You could be a parent or student planning ahead for success, or an organization looking for a short term group to address common challenges.

Life can feel overwhelming even for strong capable individuals when stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma start to weigh you down. It can be hard to slow down, ask for help, and figure out the next step. That’s where counseling can really make a difference. Maybe you’re grieving a loss, struggling after a job change, feeling stuck in a difficult relationship, or navigating a major life transition. You may be doing your best to hold it all together on the outside while struggling on the inside. If that sounds familiar, you don’t have to go through it alone. Therapy is a place to slow down, be heard, and find a way forward.

I'm married over 30 years. My ideal clients are individuals & couples who are ready to break free from cycles of disconnection, conflict, or betrayal and want more than quick fixes. They may be carrying the weight of past trauma, struggling to communicate with emotional safety, or wrestling with the aftermath of infidelity. What they long for most is clarity, healing, and practical tools to rebuild trust, intimacy, and lasting connection. They are motivated to do the work—I hold men & women accountable.

Depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, loneliness, life changes, indecision, performance issues, impulsivity . . . we all struggle with something; it is part of the human condition. And at times, it is more than we can manage on our own. Let's collaborate on a mission to understand what is troubling you and identify the steps you may take toward realizing the life you envision. As your therapist, I will listen, but also will actively participate in a conversation about you and what matters most to you. Acceptance and empathy, along with the encouragement and guidance to grow, are the cornerstones of my practice.

How might your life be different if there was a place for you to reflect and heal . . . a time set aside to connect with your inner wisdom and strength . . . a person there to offer guidance and support as you sorted through life's tough stuff and began to heal what hurts? I specialize in IFS and nervous system healing. IFS helps you understand the different parts of yourself — the worried part, the one that shuts down, the protector who's been working overtime. We learn to work with those parts rather than against them. And we listen to the wisdom of your nervous system, so healing happens holistically - body, mind, and spirit.

Warmth, authenticity and connection, plus a little bit (sometimes a lot) of laughter are the hallmarks of my practice. I focus on establishing and maintaining a safe, trusting relationship with every client because I believe through connection there is healing. I specialize in helping clients in transition - separation, divorce, empty nesting, college-to-adulting - the major life changes where we often find ourselves questioning, doubting, or just wondering. Helping others discover their own "Ah-ha" moments is what makes me a great therapist.

The relationship between therapist and client is one that is unique, vulnerable and brave. It is built on attunement, trust, and compassion in a nonjudgmental and warm space. My practice is deeply rooted in meeting each of my clients where they are on their journey, empowering them to utilize their voice and work on treatment goals that are important to them. Therapy looks different for everyone, and I am here to help sit alongside this journey with you, when you are ready. You’re Not Flawed—Just exhausted and overwhelmed. You’ve tried everything you know to 'make it work'. Giving up would feel easier some days. But you can't afford that. Spiraling down dark mental rabbit holes and feeling out of control leaves you even more without hope. Life can't be lived in high stress and uncertainty 24/7. You shouldn’t have to spend every ounce of energy just to hold it together. Don't let life feel THAT heavy. When your cup is overflowing with stress & there’s nothing left for you, it’s not a sign of failure. It’s a sign you’ve been carrying too much, too long, with not the right support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
