I work with clients to help them develop the understanding, resilience, and coping skills necessary to live a rich, meaningful life. I have experience helping people with an array of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, anger, OCD, insomnia, relational difficulties, and major life transitions, as well as people whose experience does not fit neatly into categories - helping clients to take a forward-looking approach to the type of life they want to live. I also use my experience working in several private-sector organizations when working with all my clients, but particularly those who find their work lives impacted.

I realize that all of these profiles start to sound alike, especially when you're already feeling overwhelmed. And all the different types of therapy can add to the confusion. In 25 years of practice, I've learned that it is the client-therapist relationship, more than the modality that heals. My clients appear successful but struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, and self-sabotage. Many have spent years prioritizing others and lost touch with what they want for themselves. These struggles have roots in early experiences where it wasn't safe to be fully authentic. They're stuck in survival mode and are exhausted.

I like to help others heal from suffering - whether it be understanding and managing emotions, processing trauma, reducing negative thinking patterns, getting unstuck, changing habits, letting go, achieving personal goals, communicating or relating better, building coping skills and resilience, etc. I take a holistic approach in my work and integrate talk therapy, mind-body skills (breathing, relaxation, yoga nidra, qigong, etc.), and healthy food/sleep/movement practices. My therapy style is warm, thoughtful, attuned, open, strengths-based, collaborative.

Do you feel shaped by past experiences in ways you don’t fully understand—stuck in patterns of pain, grief, or intense emotions that feel hard to escape? You may notice repeated relationship struggles, emotional reactivity, numbness, or a deep sense of loss that hasn’t resolved with time. Trauma and attachment wounds can live in the nervous system, quietly influencing how you feel, relate, and see yourself long after the original experiences have passed.

I have 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and polycules. My books, Kink For Dummies, Polyamory For Dummies, and Great Sex: Mapping Your Desire, are based on a sexual liberation workshops I've offered on campuses and at LGBTQ+ rights conferences in the US and around the world. Most of us believe there is something 'wrong' with our sexuality - what we want/don't want, how we connect or fail to connect, what we know or don't know about our desire. In our work together, we discover the power of our sex his/her/theystories and plot a path to pleasure.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a trauma survivor, and someone with a chronic pain disorder; I approach the work that I do from a place of empathy and personal understanding. I have an intense passion for understanding personal identity and the way race, culture, class, and sexuality come together to form what we believe about ourselves and what we feel we can accomplish in our lives. Anxiety and trauma can live in our bodies - together we will create a relationship that fosters dynamic and lasting growth, tapping into undiscovered reserves of resiliency that will help navigate the past and prepare for a more hopeful future.
