Therapy is a powerful tool for change. I believe that therapy works when people feel safe and challenged. The goal is for you to feel more competent, hopeful and happy in life. I will work with you to explore, understand and find strategies to move out of difficult situations. You may be searching for therapy because you are depressed, anxious, have low self esteem or feel stuck. You may be struggling with questions of identity, issues of fertility, career possibilities, unhappy relationships, aging parents, retirement. Change can happen at any age.
I have been in mental health for over 50 years, as a clinician, a researcher and a teacher. In my private practice, I work with individuals, couples and groups. I have extensive experience with severe mental illness, especially schizophrenia and have been recognized over the years for this work by the Washingtonian Magazine as one of the Best Therapists.
I will work with you to determine how to make your life easier, more meaningful and more joyful. While the process of change may seem difficult...perhaps daunting... it can also be exciting and enlivening. If you are living with difficult feelings, wrestling with complicated questions or feeling stuck, therapy can help.
