My goal is for my clients is to leave our sessions with new skills, tools and a better understanding of their brain. Although my space looks more kiddo friendly, half my caseload are typically adults. I only use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT and Trauma Focused practices) to lead my clients towards their personal goals. DBT teaches mindfulness and wise minded decision making, improving interactions with the world around us. There are seperate versions of DBT for Adolescents and adults. Art Therapy is available but never forced. I am also a graduate of Carlisle High School 2002.

Life can bring unexpected or difficult seasons—times when anxiety, depression, grief, or life changes feel overwhelming. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and reconnect with yourself with greater compassion. I know the impact of this work personally. Therapy has been deeply meaningful in my own life, and I now have the privilege of walking with others through seasons of darkness and unexpected change. The approaches and tools I use are ones I’ve experienced myself and trust in practice.

We all have times in our lives when we’re feeling stuck and our usual ways of dealing with problems aren’t working the way they once did. Maybe you are experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety for no apparent reason, or feelings that “just don’t make sense”. Perhaps you are questioning your relationships, life decisions, or even core aspects of who you are as a person. My approach to psychotherapy involves establishing a collaborative relationship, in which we will work together to understand your life experiences in the context of your life story, relationships, and cultural background.

The most important element of counseling is the connection you have with your counselor. I know how important it is for you to feel heard, validated, and aligned with the person you are choosing to trust. Starting the journey to self discovery can be overwhelming, and you need a counselor who understands and appreciates your own uniqueness. If not cared for, old wounds may still hold power over you. I get it can be confusing to navigate the journey to a healthier self, especially because you cannot choose what happened in your past. You do not have to be defined by your past or be at the mercy of unwanted thoughts and feelings.

Hi, I'm Emily! I love helping my clients identify their needs and goals, make changes in their lives, and feel like themselves again. Life can get hard sometimes. Even if you've always been the one who's 'held it together,' losing a loved one, feeling the pressure to be perfect, or always pushing through without support can become heavy. Maybe you're feeling stretched too thin trying to keep up with work, a home, a relationship, and family expectations. Or maybe you keep finding yourself repeating the same patterns in your relationships, dating the same person again and again.

Life stops for no one, under no circumstance. Sometimes it feels like you're standing still while the world moves around you. Maybe you are going through a phase of life you thought would bring joy, such as expanding your family or retiring from a job. But instead, you've found this change to be stressful and disappointing. Or maybe you're faced with one of life's challenges such as dealing with a new health condition or grieving the loss of a loved one. You're now questioning how to get through this time of your life.

You’ve probably learned to hold a lot inside. Maybe you’ve tried to push through, manage your symptoms, outthink your anxiety, avoid the memories, or hide the parts of yourself that feel “too much.” But no matter how hard you try, it still feels like something inside you just won’t settle. You’re not broken and you don’t need to be “fixed.” What you’re experiencing is your mind’s best attempt to survive things that were overwhelming. My role is to help you untangle that internal experience with compassion, curiosity, and scientifically grounded therapeutic approaches that actually reach the root, not just the surface.

Do you have symptoms that "make no sense," or "come out of the blue?" Are you having trouble understanding why you feel the way you do? I specialize in helping people make sense of experiences that are painful, confusing, or "illogical." I start with the assumption that all feelings are messages to you, from you, about you. Together, we will work to understand these messages, using them to guide the process of change.

Hi there! I'm assuming you made it to my page because life has gotten particularly difficult and you're searching for some sort of direction or confirmation that "you are not crazy for feeling that way". We are not crazy for feeling - and therapy can help assist you in understanding why some emotions are more difficult to feel than others. Recovery is about learning tolerance; not forgetting and dismissing your experiences.

As a working professional myself, I know how difficult it can be to find a physical or mental health provider that works "after hours." I aim to meet you where you are, and sometimes that means after work, after class, or after the kids are in bed! I offer sessions from 5:00pm to 10:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Let’s be honest for a second-starting therapy can feel weird, overwhelming, and maybe even a little intimidating. You might be wondering who to trust, where to start, or if this will actually help. That is completely valid and I’ve been there! At Strength Through Storms, I will support you in your journey and help you navigate the storm you're going though.
