Therapy can allow individuals to heal, evolve and increase positive emotional states of self-worth. Given the opportunity to actively help young adults and families towards reducing barriers and communication errors, the therapeutic process can be very rewarding. As a therapist, offering therapeutic strategies and tasks can help support an individual's day to day. My demeanor is warm and welcoming while working collaboratively with my clients in order to help them to define their personal goals.

Real Talk Therapy offers Counseling with therapists who offer a variety of expertise in evidenced based treatment methods. The center offers Cognitive Behavioral and other evidence-based interventions, concentrating in treatment for adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Therapy is offered virtually to people anywhere in New York State. We aim to provide break down Mental Health stigmas among marginalized populations. We do this by presenting our authentic selves through our own experiences and challenges. We grew up in an environment, in which mental health issues were rarely discussed, let alone addressed with professional help. "Why is hard for me to do things that for others appear simple? Is there something wrong with me?". These are the types of thoughts someone with anxiety, depression, and trauma often experience. How different things would have been in my life, had I understood the thoughts, feelings, and experiences I went through. My practice can be described by a quote by the writer, Ayesha Siddiqi that says “Be the person you needed when you were younger”. We are excited for you to begin your own healing.

I believe my calling is the cure of souls—to alleviate human suffering for individuals, their families, communities, and generations yet unborn. As a pastoral counselor, I work where psychology, philosophy, and faith meet, holding space for the whole person: psychological, relational, spiritual, embodied. Together we'll explore the questions that matter most: Who am I? What am I here for? How do I live well in a world that often wounds me? You'll find me warm, direct, a little wry, and deeply invested in your flourishing. Faith-based or faith-curious, skeptic or seeker—all are welcome.

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that survivors of sexual trauma know well. It lives not just in the mind but in the body — in muscles that brace without warning, in pain that has no clear medical origin, in a nervous system that has learned, quite reasonably, to stay on guard. You manage. You cope. You wonder, quietly, if this is simply who you are now. The answer is a resounding no. Taking this step takes courage. I work with individuals and couples — with or without trauma — and healing and hope are possible.

I specialize in helping people to reconnect with themselves and their sense of purpose. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed with life and the stresses that go with it. You may be experiencing anxiety or depression and feel like it is time to get help. When we are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, depressed/anxious it can make it hard to feel like a good partner, parent, employee, family member or friend. When we are in the midst of an emotional storm it can be difficult to find the path out by ourselves.

Therapy can be a transformational process of self-discovery facilitated by deeper levels of awareness and change. I believe we have an inherent ability to heal ourselves, and my primary focus is to honor and trust your experience. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life stressors can interfere with living a fulfilling life, causing problems in your life and relationships, and leaving you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, lost or numb. I believe that therapy should meet the individual where they are within their unique set of circumstances.

I love working with a variety of concerns and people. I have worked with adult individuals, couples, and led groups at times. I also enjoy working with teens. I have a laid back and open minded approach. I work hard during session to help people feel safe and accepted for who they are, while also giving them feedback and support. Most often, I work with individuals struggling to get along with each other, or facing problems from their present or past, or who are trying to reinvent a more authentic version of themselves. I do not claim to have all the answers but I think together we can find them.

Have you suffered from anxiety and maybe tried therapy for this in the past with limited results? Do you have a sense that there is something more than just plain old anxiety going on for you? Maybe you have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, or OCD, or are exploring a possible diagnosis. Have you been told that you are "too much" or "too sensitive" and are struggling with navigating a world that doesn't seem built for you. I work with neurodivergent individuals(adults, teens, and occasionally children), who are tired of being misunderstood and want support that honors their unique brain.

You're burnt out, feeling both numb and overwhelmed at the same time. All the demands feel impossible. You know you've suffered enough. You've gone too far out of the realm of what's safe or healthy for you and when we stop honoring ourselves our bodies and mental health suffer. The fatigue, the dread, the headaches and tension are your emotional needs communicating through physical symptoms, through the stress in your relationships, through your coping styles or lack thereof. It's time we hear the story your emotions need to tell, finally give their message the attention it deserves, the care YOU deserve.

How can I find a therapist in 14830?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
