Often people enter therapy because they feel stuck. They know what to do but it's just the 'doing it' that's hard. I have been working successfully with clients for 20 years and I love it. I focus on the importance of relationships as well as the achievement of individual desires. I offer in-person and teletherapy services.

I believe understanding the impact of your experiences can help you more deeply connect to the meaning of distressing patterns and symptoms and open space to make change. In being curious together about your inner experience and interpersonal encounters we can identify barriers to your goals, deepen self awareness, and strengthen your internal resources. I specialize in integrating verbal psychotherapy with visual art making and other creative practices and I have experience providing trauma focused therapy.

There is a longing inside all of us for connection. We strive to be understood, to be accepted for who we are, and to tell our story. Yet so often we may feel disconnected, unworthy, misunderstood or unseen. However, I believe potential exists within each of us to recognize and shift patterns that no longer serve us, to change harmful coping strategies, to connect with our intuition and to envision a path that aligns us with our purpose. You deserve a safe place to talk with a professional who sees beyond a label or a diagnosis and can provide compassion and support as you work toward finding renewed hope, strength and purpose.

My ideal client is someone who is open to using the creative process to give visual shape to thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Collaboratively, we can identify goals and use visual art as well as talk therapy to promote insight, development of coping strategies, and behavior and stress management. As a non-binary therapist, shared experiences allow us to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship as we connect with someone who understands our unique needs in a way that enables growth through self-expression, self-awareness, and self-empowerment.

Healthy relationships with ourselves and others are some of the greatest indicators of overall well-being. We are hardwired for connection, and some of our most profound healing experiences and deepest emotional wounds happen with those closest to us. I use an attachment framework and trauma-informed lens to help you explore your attachment history, recognize your views of self and others, identify patterns that contribute to gridlock issues, and then work to communicate your needs in new ways that strengthen connection, trust, and security with yourself and in your present and future relationships.

I believe any situation you feel stuck in or find yourself struggling with can be discussed in therapy. A person does not need to have a specific problem or severity of the issue to go to therapy. People can come to therapy to build better relationships, communicate better, change certain behaviors, reduce stress or anxiety, or to better understand themselves. I want to help people become more self-aware, and self-accept by providing a comfortable, supportive, nurturing environment that promotes awareness and growth. I focus on building a collaborative relationship with you to determine goals and create a space to achieve them.

I'm a warm, empathic, creative therapist, with a goofy sense of humor that gets me through the day. I'm here to listen before anything else. You are the expert on yourself and if I’m not learning from you, then I’ve already lost the thread. My aim is to help you find a new perspective on the previous chapters of your life as well as to change the way you are approaching today’s and tomorrow’s chapters. To use acknowledgment, laughter, bodily wisdom, new coping skills and your already-present strengths to heal and move forward differently.

I utilize a psychodynamic and relational approach to therapy, greatly valuing the therapeutic relationship built together as an important place for understanding to begin and healing to occur. I aim to provide a supportive space to build a deeper personal understanding of yourself and exploring how early life experiences and relationships support or bring obstacles to present day life. Together, we can work to rediscover the value in all of the unique parts of yourself, and gain the capacity to experience, feel, and safely regulate difficult emotions, working towards living a more authentic and vibrant life.

I have been practicing since 2006 and I have worked with a wide range of issues and work best with people who are looking for emotional/behavioral change and/or work on their core attachment issues. My client base typically consists of clients struggling with Borderline Personality/Narcissistic Personality disorders, Trauma/PTSD/CPTSD, Gender/sexuality, ENM/Poly, Kink/BDSM, and/or LGBTQIA+ folx. I am a therapist who pushes their clients to work on their issues so I generally work well with clients who are ready to work on the issues they are struggling with.

Let’s be honest, going to therapy can be a little intimidating. I know what you are thinking, “what would speaking to a shrink do for me? I have so much on my mind, it will take more than a few sessions to unleash everything.” Well…I got time AND passion. I believe that as human beings living in our present society, we are conditioned to put our needs aside and we frequently forget how to take care of ourselves. As your therapist, I am strongly devoted to assisting you in tackling life challenges, managing problems, and coming out stronger than ever because YOU are capable.

My practice is a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where I help New Yorkers find life balance. Perhaps you feel like one part of your life dominates the majority of your energy and focus. We'll explore why that part of your life takes up so much space, and use that knowledge to envision and create a more balanced one aligned with your true values and priorities. I support adults, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC folks, struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, life transitions, and the emotional effects of past trauma or complex relationships.

I have always been passionate about the wellbeing of people’s lives and have a strong desire to make a positive impact. I help my clients to find healthy perceptions of themselves, their environment and approach professional, family and personal relationships through a positive lens. Embarking on a therapeutic journey can promote a plethora of emotions with the most common one being fear but, please rest assure I am here. Through my work experience I have acquired the skills necessary to provide comfortability, effective communication, cultural diversity and a path to understanding ones self. Finding peace is priceless.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
