Although I have a certificate in psychoanalysis from NIP, my work is informed by the needs of the individual and I use various modalities in treatment. I have extensive experience in working with trauma, both recent and past, and have found that my EMDR training is very useful. Cognitive/Behavioral techniques are particularly helpful in working with clients who are experiencing anxiety or depression. In some instances medication might be helpful and we would discuss a referral to a psychiatrist. I am not doctrinaire, and work with a client to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
I have found an appropriate use of EMDR to enhance the work. In addition to being certified in Levels I and II, I have continued to receive ongoing training and supervision. It is always interesting to see how this modality works with so many clients.
I bring a lot of life experiences into my practice and also look at the whole client. My years of working for Employee Assistance Programs help me to recognize how important workplace issues are to clients and enable me to help them is this area.
