The young adult and adult clients are often struggling with becoming independent, careers and relationships. I try to make connections between the presenting problems and unresolved family issues and recurring themes in their family. The therapy proceeds with a combination of working out some of the family or origin issues, practical strategies and dealing with the anxiety and depression that the client might be experience. Couples present with a variety of problems often related to unrealistic expectations, reactivity to each other based on unresolved family issues. I would explore these issues and help the couple try to negotiate their differences
Trained as a Bowenian Systems Family Therapist, my approach focuses on exploring intergenerational family issues which may interfere with an individual's ability to develop positive relationships and function independently. I have also trained at Ackerman Family Institute in issues related to learning disabilities and the family.
I have specific training in helping individuals who have been cut-off from their family or have an extremely conflictual relationship with them, learn how to develop some kind of connection. Additionally, I have had over 4 years of live couples therapy training with Betty Carter a renowned family therapist.
