When working with adults, my ideal client is motivated to seek change in their life. They are looking to build skills to overcome feelings of anxiety and depression by looking inward and doing the work at the root of the challenge. My clients and I work together toward identity development and a better sense of self. When working with children and teens, my ideal client is one who struggles to use their voice to express their emotions and their needs. Through play and games, I help them find the confidence to discover their unique identities!

It can be difficult to start the journey for healing. I believe that any person who is willing to look inward, develop self awareness and ask themselves the tough questions, is on the right path to a healthier, rewarding life. I look for honesty, transparency and open mindedness in a client and with that I believe I can guide them to help them meet whatever goals they are ready to address.

Guided introspection leading to actionable connections is a tonic in an increasingly isolating, and volatile world. Whether this is your first time in therapy or another chapter on your quest for fulfillment in relationship with yourself and others, I am dedicated to meeting you where you are. Together we will bear witness to joys and challenges of being a human in our modern society, and celebrate the richness of humanity. As a trained couples and family therapist, I utilize a variety of theories integrating my past experience in both the performing arts and as a yoga instructor to provide a creative, holistic experience.

Life can be stressful and at times we need assistance finding balance and meaning in this often unkind world. My clients often express dissatisfaction with their image in the mirror—they feel stuck in unsatisfying careers and are struggling to determine the next step. They are either in relationships that are not mutually beneficial and are struggling to communicate effectively, or they are feeling overwhelmed with dating in this app-centric world. I love what I do and I think it shows. My main goal is to help clients address personal challenges, understand how early life events effect them, and how to take steps towards change.

You are tired of thinking about the worst-case scenarios when it comes to your work and current/future relationship. You tired of listening to the never-ending dialogue of your inner critic that you are not good enough that keep you stuck. You are tired of accommodating others but not putting yourself first without tremendous guilt or feeling selfish. You want to feel empowered, gain confidence, and access your resilience. It’s time to get joy and excitement back into your life. It's time to start showing up for yourself! I work with individuals and couples to get unstuck from negative thought patterns and behavior.

I approach therapy as a conversation about life. I try to offer a place to speak as freely about your life goals and life concerns as possible. You will come to know yourself better, trust inner resources, and find creative solutions to life's challenges. A central aim of therapy is to strengthen the connection to yourself and to others, to feel freer to grow and love life and who you are. Older patterns and expectations can prevent you from living as you would like to live and can be explored, and changed to fit who you are now and what you seek. The aim of therapy I believe is finding more fulfillment, joy, and personal freedom.

Navigating the twists and turns of your life can be exhausting. You deserve to amplify your joys, connections, and goals. I want to make a space for you to self-express fully, feel at home in your body, and feel safe to explore into the heavier parts of your story. You might be coming to therapy to process your pregnancy or birth and parenting experiences. You might be like one of the many people who feel alone in their struggle to control their worry and fears. I promise you, you are not alone.

Modern men like you want to make it happen - successful marriage, fatherhood, career, etc. The thing is, though, that busy happens, emotion happens, life happens, and you need support to make it happen smoothly. You need to get out of your head, speak freely, and unburden yourself without any fear of backlash that could burden your relationships. You need a return on investment for the energy, the money, and the time that you put into therapy. The therapeutic relationship needs to feel right, and you want a therapist who will listen, join you through the truth, and tell you like it is while you add the best tools to your toolbox.

I spent a solid 10 years searching for what I wanted to do with my life. This included traveling, a lot of reading, and too much drinking. I wanted something that suited the rhythm of my heart and mind, something that I found valuable, that I could find meaning in, where I could grow. Many people these days are searching for their own version of this.

Working on important relationships— whether together or apart— can be an incredibly rewarding journey. We’ll start where you are and what brought you to this point, including what you’ve tried so far. Then, we will look more closely for both default choices that create patterns of ineffective dynamics and responses, as well as successful moments where you are able to make effective decisions about how you want to respond to a person or situation. This will involve looking at all kinds of habits: behavioral, mental, interpersonal. Enter: the power of choice.

How can I find a therapist in 10001?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
