Often people struggle with anxiety, depression, unresolved issues, relationship problems, trauma, anger outbursts, addiction, and overwhelming stress. Others come to process their grief from losses through death, divorce, job loss, estrangement. COVID-19 has intensified and spawned depression, trauma, anxiety, and existential angst. Most clients come for relief and release from the issues that have them stuck. They want insight, understanding, and coping skills that work.

I’m certified in loving people. Truthfully, that is all I wanted to write here - but it probably wouldn’t get me very far so I have to give a description of what therapy may be like with me. Here I go … I specialize in the treatment of traumatic stress and mental illness. I can teach you how to regulate your nervous system, give you various coping skills, help you navigate messy relationships, and hold space for difficult and painful emotions. I am trained in trauma informed care and certified in EMDR. I have a down to earth approach to therapy- sorrow, anger, laughter, and joy are all welcome on our path. I love to laugh - a lot!

Right now, things might feel harder than you ever expected. Maybe you and your partner are having the same fight on repeat, and you're starting to wonder if you even like each other anymore. Maybe your family feels more like a group of people living under the same roof than a team. Or maybe co-parenting has become a source of daily stress — every handoff, every text, every decision a potential landmine. Whatever brought you here, I want you to know this: the exhaustion you're feeling, the walking-on-eggshells, the loneliness even when you're surrounded by people you love — none of that means something is broken beyond repair.

I specialize in women’s spiritual, emotional and relational well-being. Many of my clients find me because something significant has shifted in their life and they’re in unfamiliar territory. Some are experiencing spiritual questions or sense that something is awakening within them. Others long for daily life to have greater ease and depth. Many are tired of repeating old patterns and want to shift their relationships at a deeper level. They’re looking for more than skills, but someone who will help them learn to navigate life with more clarity and ease to achieve emotional well-being and a deeper sense of self.

Sometimes we feel alone, misunderstood, scared. Other times we feel anger, turmoil, overwhelmed. It can be a painful past which still gives us no peace, or a fork in the road ahead which confuses us. We may have no way to settle our fears. Children may be challenging us, or we may be observing them struggle in their personal lives. Relationships may be unsettling or disappointing. What we all want is happiness, inner peace. Gratifying relationships. Pride in our parenting. A way to move on from past traumas and allow us to feel free again.

As a mom and psychologist, I’ve seen firsthand how challenging it can be to juggle the emotions of your children, maintain concentration in today's world, and manage everyday stress. I guide children, teens, and parents toward strategies that help them feel steadier, more confident, and more connected to themselves and their families. I understand what it feels like when life feels overwhelming, whether it’s a with struggling to focus, a parent wondering if they’re doing enough, or a woman trying to quiet her own constant worry.

I work with adults and families navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, addiction, and the emotional weight of high expectations. My focus is often on depression, anxiety, trauma, and compulsive behaviors—especially when they emerge during times of change or self-doubt. Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade in senior investment banking roles, leading complex transactions at firms like J.P. Morgan. That experience gave me firsthand insight into the pressure and personal toll of high-stress environments.

How is it going? Whether we have a difficult work situation, a relationship issue, struggles with life changes, caught in the cycle of addiction, unresolved childhood trauma, or feel just plain stuck, the anxiety and depression that result can leave us feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes we have no idea what is happening, but certain things just seem to trigger panic or reactions we do not fully understand. Other times, finding the motivation to get out of bed in the morning is a major effort. Old and familiar ways of getting though these challenges no longer work. Something must change, but what and how?

In my professional capacity as a licensed social worker and psychotherapist, I have had the honor to accompany persons of all ages and backgrounds in their quest for insight and self-discovery. I believe that trust and vulnerability are at the core of the client-therapist relationship and that the client’s innate wisdom and judgment rule supreme. With that in mind, strategies and interventions in achieving clearly defined yet dynamic goals arise through a process of critical inquiry. In this process, I have witnessed individuals redefine and recreate who they are as they move toward greater lucidity and self-fulfillment.

Navigating the ups and downs of life is an ever-present journey, and one that can often feel isolating. Whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to face it alone. It’s not easy to open up about your mental health, but that courage opens the door to a journey of growth and self-understanding you may not have seen before. Together, we can create a therapeutic space to slow down and explore all the emotions you can and cannot name.

We all have a life narrative; some experiences are easy to understand, while others we may try to reject or avoid. Our narrative can be unfairly written with past emotional pain and we’re left to shoulder the burden of these experiences, which may manifest as anxiety, depression, grief, anger, etc. Each of these experiences are part of your greater story, linking from one to another, all of which has shaped you to be the person you are today. The process of self-exploration, change, and healing from these experiences is challenging, highlighting the importance of finding the right therapist for you.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
