We all have strivings toward connection, understanding, and growth. The more these yearnings are thwarted by deprivation, misattunement, trauma or loss, the more profound and painful the longings and needs can become. There is a basic human need that we all have to grow, to heal, and to transform into becoming our true and best self.

As a psychologist for 42 years, 21 years as a school-psychologist, 22 years in private practice, I am frequently asked about my areas of specialty or my modes of treatment. I explain that what WE do (therapy is a joint effort) has everything to do with the person sitting in front of me. Everyone brings his or her own problems, histories, relationships, personalities, situations, and resources into therapy and it is not a one size fits all paradigm. And as similar as we humans are, we are each of us, unique.

I believe we all need unconditional support and compassionate understanding in navigating through life's unpredictable journey. I promote an empathic and positive therapeutic relationship between client and clinician that is respectful of the client's strengths and right to self-determination and encourages healing, self-awareness, and self-care. I also challenge the client to think out-of-the-box and explore the possibilities for growth and change in one's own thinking and circumstances. I am culturally sensitive and tailor therapy to the individual needs of the client as there is no one-size-fits-all therapeutic modality.

Hope, Resilience and Renewal. The belief in the power of these is the basis of my work with you. Are you feeling alone, sad and in pain from grief and loss? Maybe it was the death of a loved one or the ending of a relationship. Maybe it was a recent move, a change in life status; marriage, divorce, empty nesting or retirement. Maybe it was the loss of plans, hopes and dreams. Maybe it was the loss of a job, your health, or the feeling of safety and trust due to world events from the pandemic, war and injustice. I know it may be tempting to avoid dealing with our grief, but you can’t heal what you don’t face and address.

My ideal client is a man who feels stuck, struggling with constant frustration, anger, or anxiety. He experiences a sense of numbness or disconnection, feels misunderstood, unable to understand why relationships feel unfulfilling or why he can't break free from cycles of self-doubt or emotional distance. He might often feel overwhelmed by stress/pressure, struggle with anger or low motivation, or have difficulty opening up, but he doesn't why or how to fix it. His goal is to experience a life in which he is fully present and connected to his inner strength and purpose.

As a therapist, there is often a misconception that my role is to simply diagnose clients. My goal is much broader. I aim to meet each client where they are—whether that means serving as a mentor, a supportive listener, or someone who walks alongside you on your journey of growth and healing.
I take a flexible, individualized approach, tailoring sessions to each client’s unique needs, goals, and life experiences. I offer guidance and resources for everyday challenges as well as for more complex issues that may feel overwhelming or take a toll over time.

I am an experienced therapist with a keen sensitivity to my clients' needs, and a deep understanding of their issues. I work with a diverse clientele, and I help my clients manage a wide spectrum of situations that arise in their lives. People come when they are overwhelmed, stressed out, experiencing work issues, marriage troubles, school problems, etc. I work with them to teach them new skills, or to help them realize that they have the skills they need, but are not using them in the most advantageous way. This process of learning and change is the essence of psychotherapy.

I know… you’re exhausted, but you don’t have to be. You’ve been doing your best, showing up, and trying to stay positive, but dating still feels like a mystery, creating confusion. You’re smart, capable, and successful in every other area of your life, yet somehow, love still feels out of reach. Perhaps you tend to attach too soon, lose yourself in relationships, or feel uncertain about what “healthy love” is supposed to look like. Yet, you’re craving something real, a relationship that feels safe, secure, and steady.

My specialties are addiction, mood disorders, initial assessment of neurological issues, ADD, trauma resolution, and stress-related conditions. MDs prescribe Naltrexone and injectable Vivitrol to completely control urges. Examples of people I have helped with E.M.D.R.: a 50-year-old woman whose father verbally abused her and her sibling. Within one session, her trauma ended. A middle-aged male sustained a coma and severe injuries in a car accident. He regained his mental acuity to a mild degree, to continue his life. HEADAPP has improved those with brain impairment issues including stroke and ‘brain fog” from COVID.

In today’s world marked by political division, civil rights setbacks, and global tension, it’s easy to lose your sense of stability and Self. Meanwhile, you are navigating challenges in your daily life that feel overwhelming, carrying stress that lingers, or finding it hard to silence the noise within your mind. In these moments you don’t need to be reduced to a label or diagnosis. You need someone who sees you, your whole story, your strength, and your complexity.

With couples, I teach effective and respectful communications. If couples cannot talk to each other with kindness and respect, little can be accomplished. I do take sides, and I name names. Not all issues are 50-50. In fact, most are not. It is important for both members of the couple to understand and realize why they are in crisis, and the role that each party plays. Only then, can each person do the work they need to do alone (in front of their partner).
