Are you a law enforcement officer who has thought about speaking to a professional regarding a personal or family issue, but have never felt comfortable reaching out for help? The decision to seek outside help is never easy and the process is even harder for those in law enforcement because of serious and real concerns regarding confidentiality. I am completely independent from your department.

Many teens today lack the coping skills that are necessary to address life’s ups and downs. They often feel disconnected emotionally, and are unable to handle stress, peer and relationship issues, or the school, college, or work environment. When a teen is struggling with academics, they receive tutoring or support to develop the skills they need to succeed. Emotional health is no different. Teens need tools to help them regulate their emotions, develop connections with others, and create a healthy, well-rounded lifestyle. I take an integrated, solution-focused approach to working with adolescents and young adults.

Asking for help is uncomfortable for most people. It takes courage to seek out guidance. The hard part is listening to that healthy voice inside of you that knows you need to talk to someone. Do not second guess yourself. Follow your intuition and call now. People feel at ease with me. I have a natural ability to connect. We all need to be heard, validated and most importantly feel cared about. I will do this for you. I will support you while you develop new skills to change your life.

A key ingredient to successful therapy is having a strong therapeutic relationship. To foster this relationship I am open and honest with my client's and create an environment that allow the people I work with to feel cared for, safe, and free from judgement. My main treatment method is cognitive behavioral therapy however I take an integrative approach to treatment. I consider the individual needs of my clients, I help them regulate their emotions, manage stressors, and function effectively in their daily lives. I work with my clients collaboratively to develop interventions and coping strategies that work for them.

My work with individuals and couples includes a specialization in communication, relationship issues, shame, vulnerability, self-esteem issues, anxiety/depression, and any barrier to fulfilling one's full potential. I use cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies, and take a strengths-based approach to encourage and promote self-awareness and empowerment. My style combines clinical techniques with a holistic perspective that takes into account a body-mind-heart connection. I describe this connection as awareness of health, thoughts, and emotions.

With over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, I work with a wide range of human difficulties. From young adults trying to find their way, to couples struggling to communicate, I believe that my work is to draw out the hidden potential in each individual. Throughout the years I have trained in a wide spectrum of modalities, ranging from practical, solution-oriented behavioral therapy, to attachment theory and advanced work with the subconscious mind. And sometimes just talking about an issue in a safe environment, giving it words, allows the next step towards a happier life.

I believe creating a comfortable, warm, and of course confidential environment is key. Sharing one's thoughts and feelings can be difficult work, but careful, compassionate listening, thoughtful reflection and a sense of humor can make it easier to engage in the therapeutic process.
I work psychodynamically, thinking about you as a whole person, not as a cluster of symptoms. Together, we will consider your experiences from early life, patterns of relating and refine goals for cultivating a satisfying, meaningful life.

Another day at your desk, feeling incompetent and scared. Your head tells you that’s silly, but your gut says it’s not. The hamster wheel in your head is spinning so fast, you can’t focus on anything but your worrying. Worry drops out of nowhere and makes you feel like you need to do everything Right Now. Whatever you’ve done, you “should” have done more. You’re out of breath, and your heart beats faster, and maybe you’ve had a panic attack out of nowhere. Lately, you always have an excuse to avoid things you used to love, including seeing your friends, but you feel like they don’t really miss you. You’re sad, and worry at night.
