Hello, I'm Adam. Do you feel that your past or present internal and external experiences are holding you back from experiencing positive emotions in your life? Do you feel that you will never be able to live the life you want to live if you continue to let your feelings and thoughts be the narrator of your life? If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, you may be struggling with managing psychological pain. You may not see it now, but you demonstrate the courage, compassion, and ability to move forward in your life even with the most difficult challenges that life has or is currently bringing to you.

Are you looking for a therapist who hears what you’re saying, sees, and feels your issues? Many of us are looking for a therapist who is the right fit, understands the issues we’re bringing up, and can help us work through our challenges to feel better about ourselves. Mental health issues can be difficult to manage alone and having a supportive therapist can make all the difference.

It’s hard being human. In our short window of time on earth we will have moments of great joy and beauty, but also experiences of sadness, stress, and pain. We are confronted with a difficult problem - how do we deal effectively with a reality that spans all different feelings and experiences? Often we deal with them in ineffective ways that leave us feeling worse off than when we started. There is hope, however. Together we can work together to recognize the patterns you're stuck in, learn skills to manage difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively, and work towards a rich and meaningful life.

Often the people who come to see me are seeking something something different. Many have tried more traditional forms of therapy, and haven't felt the kind of relief or transformation that they had hoped. Many have a spiritual side and seek to learn more about who they really are, and work toward their highest and most authentic sense of self and full potential. This work involves a search for meaning and integration that often isn't found in modalities that do not integrate mind, body and spirit. As Carl Jung said, "Who looks outside dreams. Who looks inside awakens."

We decide to seek out a therapist for a myriad of reasons. Many of us suffer with social anxiety, chronic low self-esteem or a persistent sense of sadness or loneliness. Many also suffer from recurring trauma related experiences, leading to sleeping or eating disturbances, substance abuse, and panic. These persistent, intractable feelings often make it difficult to function optimally in our daily lives. They interfere with our ability to develop and sustain fulfilling relationships and prevent us from achieving our dreams and goals.

Many individuals have the preconceived notion that asking for help signifies weakness. On the contrary, having the vulnerability to seek additional support is one of the bravest things you can do. Life consists of various challenges and stressors, and they do not have to be navigated alone. I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker specializing in treating adolescents, teenagers, and adults with a wide range of concerns and needs.

Are you ready to embark on your journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery? It won’t be easy, but you’re not alone. Your decision to see a therapist may be centered around a difficulty with coping with a recent crisis, unresolved trauma, or simply needing someone to talk to. I work with adults and adolescents who experience anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship issues, work & school difficulties, and life transitions.

Over the past twenty five years I have used Neuofeedback to help several hundred clients struggling with such issues as anxiety, depression, problematic sleep and epilepsy. In particular, l have specialized in working with people facing neurodevelopmental challenges, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD, improving attention, communication, mood and behavioral rigidities. It has been shown that behavioral and emotional difficulties are associated with problem brain wave patterns. Neurofeedback is a conditioning program that trains people to change their brain waves by replacing them with more adaptive ones.

I have enormous respect for those who ask for help: it's a true sign of strength. I consider being a therapist a privilege and admire my clients who vulnerably reveal themselves and their experiences in order to grow and heal. Therapy is most successful when there is a good connection between therapist and client. It's important to find a therapist that you like, trust, and respect. If we are a good fit, we can make great changes!

Hi, I’m Bekah. I want to start by saying that reaching out for help takes courage. Whether or not we work together, I am glad that you are taking the time find a clinician with whom you feel comfortable. Do you ever find that you are significantly harsher with yourself than you would be to a friend or even a stranger? Life is hard enough on its own, yet sometimes we have a tendency to make it harder for ourselves.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
