Whatever it is that you are struggling with, I am certain of one thing, it has been beating you up and convincing you that there is no hope. You’re tired of it, you’ve been fighting it tooth and nail and yet it still persists. You are surviving without any tools and my role to you is to give you a hammer. As someone who has ten years experience working with people who struggle with anger, anxiety, relationship issues, and who struggle with conventional therapy, I have found reliable methods to elevate people to where they want to be in life.

Sometimes life gets difficult, due to our own actions or those of others. Many times we can figure things out on our own, but there are times when an outside perspective is helpful. I’m here to offer a non-judgmental and confidential environment to examine your life situation and decide if you are interested in change. We work at your pace, toward your goals, in a partnership. I want you to know there is hope for you and most of all that you are not broken, no matter how difficult life may seem.

Congratulations! This is a phenomenal step towards a healthier, joyous, and fulfilling life. Let me pour you a cup of tea/coffee and make yourself comfortable. As you journey through life, things sometimes do not go how you want or plan. You may not move forward due to anxiety, depression, fear, or trauma. You may be in a relationship that is no longer what it once was. You may struggle to adjust or transition to the next life phase. You may raise children/teens and find it challenging to ride the waves of parenthood. You may feel lonely and wish you had somebody to talk to. You may feel stuck and do not know the road to take.

Is depression or anxiety keeping you from engaging with life as you want to? Are your relationships suffering because of communication issues or mental health problems? Have you tried therapy in the past but stopped because it felt impersonal or formulaic? Dealing with mental health issues affects how you think about yourself, interact with loved ones, and how much effort you can use to chase your goals. If you’re ready to find positive solutions to your mental health and relationship issues, therapy with a person-centered approach may help.

You’ve done therapy. You’ve done the work. You’re smart, self-aware, and still, something feels off . You keep it together for everyone else, but you’re tired. Tired of overthinking, pretending you’re fine, never really resting. Emotions hit too hard or not at all. You don’t want quick fixes. You want real change. You want to feel like yourself again. Like you’re not broken, or too much, or alone in this.

You may be at a point in your life where something deeper is asking for your attention. You’re reflective, curious, and aware that old patterns or unanswered questions are surfacing. Relationships may feel strained, parenthood may have brought unexpected emotions, or you may be juggling many roles while feeling disconnected from yourself. On the outside, things may look fine, yet internally you sense a quiet pull toward understanding yourself more fully and tending to what needs care and healing.

I have worked in the Human Service field since 1983 and I became a licensed counselor in 2001. My goal is to provide an open, supportive, confidential environment so that my clients may address any issues that concern them and to help them take control of their destiny. I believe that as a therapist it is my job to help you discover your potential and the issues that are holding you back. I pride myself on having an old-fashioned, "homelike" atmosphere in my office. Life is stressful - your visit to your therapist shouldn't be.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
