Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. Many of our pitfalls, our "relapses" in behavior, are related to maladaptive patterns with family or intimate partners. Our work in therapy is to understand these patterns and learn how to change them. If depression is dwelling in the past, and anxiety is living in the future, our therapeutic goal is to live in the present, towards a more authentic and mindful reality.

Worry. Panic attacks. Highly uncomfortable feelings of anxiety itself. In the past, these and other problems were very hard to treat. People would spend years in therapy with minimal improvement
