There’s a lot going on out there. Reaching out for support takes courage, and it’s an important first step toward healing and growth. I believe therapy should be a safe and welcoming space where you can show up just as you are—without fear of judgment. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, past trauma, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and care. Together, we’ll create space for your story, explore what’s been weighing on you, and work toward the healing, clarity, and empowerment you deserve. You are not too much. You are not alone. Let's do this.

NOT accepting new clients at this time. Given the level of community and world uncertainty, you may be feeling increased anxiety, depression, conflict, confusion and isolation. How do you cope with such enormous uncertainty? Working effectively with your mind and reactivity is essential to finding balance, strength, comfort and connection. My focus in therapy is to listen deeply to your inner wisdom, express more fully who you are, develop skills to accomplish this and make choices that further your positive intentions. Life provides challenges at the best of times; we need support when we are most vulnerable.

I collaborate with my clients to work on what is important to them, integrating my knowledge and clinical experience to guide the process. I believe that everyone has problems at times, and that these can prevent us from having the relationships and lives we desire. I see therapy as a dialogue and am active and direct in the process. I will partner with you to change old patterns and to draw out your strengths. Most people say I have a genuine, down to earth manner which makes it possible to feel safe and speak openly.

Therapy works best when it’s a partnership: you and I work together to address your goals, challenges, and hopes for the future. While I bring professional experience and a strong grounding in evidence-based treatment, you are the expert on your own life. My approach is compassionate, patient, and deeply curious, but also honest and “no BS.” I specialize in working with adults navigating avoidant behaviors: PTSD, phobias, anxiety, and OCD. My practice draws from proven modalities including Prolonged Exposure (PE), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Depression, anxiety, and despair invite us to seek out deeper connections and growth. The intimacy that develops in the therapeutic relationship is different from what passes for communication in most peoples' daily lives. In the I and Thou, of genuine therapy, there is no barrier. The goal is to be able to totally see and to be seen. Pretense, persona, the need to impress, many aspects of false perception all fall away. There are no barriers. It is a way of healing soul sickness that is challenging to both therapist and patient while at the same time being effective and fulfilling.

If you found yourself here, I imagine you’ve been feeling worried, sad, and maybe even lonely. I imagine you’ve been struggling with how to solve a problem or a theme that continues to show up in your life. You know that something needs to change, but you aren’t sure what that is quite yet. I can imagine you’ve attempted to make this problem go away or solve it, but it hasn’t worked so you found yourself exploring resources. You aren't alone. Common goals in therapy include: feeling more connected in relationship, reducing stress, and navigating complicated transitions. Openings for Couples' Intensives are available.

I work with individuals aged 20 and up seeking a supportive space for meaningful self-exploration. I see therapy as a process of exploring connections between past and present relationships, experiences, and emotional states in order to create opportunities for growth. My focus is on the client-therapist relationship as the stimulus for this growth through the facilitation of healing interpersonal experiences and the reshaping of unhelpful stories about oneself and the world.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly two decades of experience with clients of all ages. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I don't rely on a single therapeutic modality. Rather, I blend the best parts of many different approaches including Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, and components of EMDR. My clients typically find me warm and validating while gently pushing them to grow in the specific areas. I have a growing practice working with people who are navigating complex relationship dynamics.

Life can often feel difficult, confusing or overwhelming. Seeking help and finding the right counseling relationship can be challenging as well. My goal is to help you connect to your own inner guidance system. As an existentialist and a feminist counselor, it is my belief that people need to find a sense of purpose and meaning within themselves because the world outside doesn't always make sense. The stories we have told ourselves or been told about ourselves can have a significant impact on how we feel. The result can be depression, anxiety, anger, hopelessness, or confusion.

A neuropsychological evaluation can provide valuable information regarding an individual's current and future cognitive functioning. My specialty involves the assessment of cognition across a wide span of central nervous system disorders including neurodegenerative conditions (e.g., Alzheimer's disease), traumatic brain injury (TBI), substance abuse, attention deficit syndromes, and autistic spectrum disorder. My work examines the relationship between brain disease and cognition while differentiating the contribution of psychological factors such as depression or anxiety. I also perform independent medical examinations (IME).

Life presents challenges sometimes. Learning how to access our resiliency, explore negative thought patterns, and strengthen new positive beliefs assists us in creating and maintaining a thriving daily life. I recognize that each person is diverse, having a unique family, social, and cultural history, and that healing and growth can be dependent on numerous factors. I use therapy methods that help bridge communication with children, youth and adults. I hold also hold BA in studio art that contributes to the creativity element of my work with individuals.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
