My practice is currently online only and currently accepting new patients. Please call or text me at 207-409-3459 if you would like to have an opportunity to discuss your interest in pursuing individual or couples counseling. In my work with others I have found many struggle with aligning their life values and goals with living a meaningful and purposeful life in areas of relationship to self and others. Being able to patiently listen to your self as well as sharing your "voice" in relationship with others is so important to this life journey. You may be stuck, not broken!

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that true healing arises when we reconnect with our authentic selves and cultivate a sense of meaning and purpose in our lives. In our work together, I aim to help you navigate the complexities of existence, facilitating a journey toward greater self-awareness and deeper capacity for connection with yourself, with others, and with life. Therapy is a process not just for addressing psychological challenges, but also for exploring personal experiences more deeply. It’s a collaborative effort to clarify values, understand beliefs, and explore aspects of meaning, identity, and connection.

I currently offer individual therapy to clients in both Maine and Wisconsin. Many clients I work with carry day to day stress and anxiety that is rooted in trauma. We tend to think of trauma as one big moment, but it can also be a culmination of moments leading to a negative narrative of the self and a shift in the way we see and interact in the world. My goal is to teach new skills that will help promote control over ones thoughts, feelings and behaviors that can improve health and happiness across multiple settings- emotionally, psychosomatically, in families or relationships and other areas of life.

My name is Lisa Leadbetter, and I am an LCPC licensed in Maine. I believe that connection and a strong relationship in therapy is everything. I pull from many different modalities and techniques but believe that the client determines what works best for them. I specialize in trauma, anxiety and depression and have extensive experience in communication, self-esteem and helping people be their best selves. I most often use cognitive behavioral therapy as a main approach but other staples in my approach are acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma informed and person-centered modalities.

It takes real courage to ask for help and prioritize your wellbeing! Maybe you are realizing a need to look back and heal from old wounds, or maybe you’re hoping to transform your life and move into new ways of being. Healing and transformation are both possible, and I’m here to support you in these endeavors. I aim to give space to the parts of you that are wanting to break through while also acknowledging the parts of you that may fear or push against this change (with compassion!). I also offer support to couples through rebuilding friendship, practicing healthy communication, and increasing a sense of agency.
