I specialize in helping men who struggle with isolation, feelings of anxiety and depression, blocks to intimacy, addiction to pornography, lack of male friends, a feeling of being lost or without a deep sense of purpose, or feeling numb and disconnected from life. As men, we are socialized to keep everything to ourselves, which makes it hard for us to admit when we're lonely and hurting and in need of support. Many of us grew up with fathers that were either absent, abusive, or detached from us emotionally, leaving us without a respectable model of masculinity and without much direction in life.

With compassion and a uniquely client-centered approach to presenting concerns, I support you as you progress through life transitions for healing and growth. New season here in Maine is slowly approaching as the February coldness passes. Personal change like the seasons can be a challenge, past experiences may impact the way forward, some need extra help working through trauma or some other issue. My practice could potentially help. I provide services in an up front and honest manner. My approach is to have active dialogue, not just sitting, typing, and waiting for something to happen. This means focusing on a growth mindset, a willingness to heal/change, being realistic, and genuine engagement in therapy. Learning to be responsible for yourself is part of change.

My background as an RN and teacher enrich my understanding of my client's needs. Listening to each person's experience and struggles with my ability to clarify what I hear, enables my clients to discover strengths and direction they need to overcome obstacle in their lives.

Most of my clients have used alcohol or drugs as a crutch over the years and that has progressed into a daily habit that becomes a way of coping with life. This eventually leads to excessive drinking and drug use and can cause chaos in a person's life...and the lives of the people that love them. My goal is to help you develop coping skills that allow you to deal with life's difficulties without picking up a drink or a drug. Life can be so much better when you are not tethered to a drink or a drug in order to get through your day.

I am an RN and Level 2 Trained IFS Practitioner. I understand that education on a continuing basis is an absolute; allowing for delivery of high-quality, skillfully-honed sessions. I hold a certificate of completion from IFSCA (Internal Family Systems Counseling Association). I am also Level 2 Trained by the IFS Institute in IFS education. I continue to update knowledge periodically, attesting to my ethics and promise that in serving as a Level 2 Trained IFS Practitioner, I will uphold quality practice and conduct distinctly professional, but warm and loving sessions with you. In session, I strive to help you reach your goals.
