If we honestly search within ourselves, we will find the answers and the paths that can lead to a happier, more fulfilling life. I am compassionate and empathic, utilizing a holistic approach with a strong emphasis on nature, humor, and spirituality, to empower people to accept themselves for who they are, to love themselves more fully, and to create successful strategies to enhance as well as sustain more meaning in their lives.

The name of my practice is Learning to Bend Counseling Services. The meaning behind this name encompasses the philosophy of my approach. Throughout history there have been many examples of the metaphor of 'bending like a tree.' My favorite is from Tao Te Ching which is, "The tree that is unbending is easily broken."  So what does this have to do with counseling?  Well, we humans can be quite rigid.  'Things need to be this way.  I cannot have this anxiety/pain/sadness.' In counseling, the aim is to work with you on learning to "bend" with the winds life throws at us instead of fighting the winds we cannot control.

As a therapist born blind, I deeply understand how discrimination and external pressures impact mental health and relationships. I support individuals and couples in exploring conflict, communication, and connection with empathy. Together, we’ll identify patterns, increase self-awareness, and foster healing in your relationships—with your partner, loved ones, and yourself.

Hello, I have over 30 years of experience working in the mental health field in various clinical settings. I currently work with adults who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and other life challenges. I am passionate about helping people understand and heal from Complex PTSD. I believe that it is a strength to seek therapy as we all need to take care of our mental health and sometimes need support in doing so. I believe that everyone can become empowered to find self-healing.

I'm passionate about supporting clients in becoming less overwhelmed, developing better ways to cope with difficult symptoms, and increasing security in their relationships. My treatment specialties include trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, relational/couples concerns, chronic pain, and women's issues. I'm also an art therapist and have training in the treatment of perinatal mood disorders (which can even occur for the non-birthing parent!) and passionate about treating fellow therapists, and those who identify as neurodivergent. I believe that anyone can achieve a more satisfying life for themselves with the right support!

We are equipped with everything we need. Sometimes, we simply need help accessing the parts of ourselves that strengthen us to live a healthy and fulfilled life. Through therapy, we can accomplish that. I have fifteen years of experience working with individuals, families, and couples in various settings. For most of my career, I have worked with the military community, helping them heal from trauma, substance abuse, and domestic violence issues.

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, unhealthy ways of coping, a challenging relationship, or loss of a sense of self that affects your day-to-day life, relationships, ability to function, your work, or schooling? Do you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, or lost by the demands and pressures of life? Do you wonder if your life could be better? Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, uncertain, frustrated, and distressed about how to move on from past hurts, how to get unstuck from the self destructive loop they’re in, and where their future is headed.

I help people to heal and grow. That can come in many forms. Perhaps it's learning to manage depression and anxiety. Maybe it's making sense of overwhelming or traumatic events. Perhaps it's learning to communicate better with partners, family, or friends. Maybe it's coming to terms with a chronic illness.
