My belief is that all phases of life come with unique obstacles and opportunities for the development of deeper insight into what makes life meaningful to us. I find what often interferes with that meaning making process are deeply ingrained patterns of behavior, ways of connecting, and beliefs about who we are meant to be. These patterns in turn create seemingly unresolvable tensions in how we relate to others, the world, and our self. My hope is that in the work I do with my clients, we can create a safe, supportive, and challenging environment to explore where these patterns come from and how they continue to show up.

Life's journey is full of crisis, loss, grief, relationship issues and trauma. These unresolved experiences become stuck in our body and mind and affect how we think, feel, react, what we believe and keep us in survival mode without us realizing it. We eventually become sick physically, mentally and emotionally as we try to navigate toxic relationships, struggle with addictions and ultimately lose faith in the chance for a better reality. My dedication, empathy and personal experience provide clients with a safe, compassionate, nonjudmental and trusting relationship with space to heal.

I believe we all have a soul that is radiant and beautiful. Our souls are currently embodied in human form for two reasons: to manifest our soul mission and to experience the fullness of life. If you are not on track with your soul mission or are not getting the desired results in some area of your life, then there must be some type of interference pattern causing a misalignment between the conscious, unconscious, body and/or soul levels. The methodology I developed, Healing from the Body Level Up, clears these interference patterns from all levels quickly, painlessly and permanently.

You're driven, disciplined, and high-functioning, but internally, things may feel far more overwhelming than they appear. Many of my clients are athletes and high achievers navigating anxiety, performance pressure, body image concerns, disordered eating, injury recovery or burnout while continuing to meet expectations. Therapy is a space to slow down, understand what's happening beneath the surface, and develop practical tools that support emotional regulation, mental health, and sustainable performance in both sport and life-with a clear, structured approach that supports lasting change.

My practice aims to empower my clients to face their fears and discomforts in a supported and structured way in order to change the relationship we as humans have with suffering and to discover a life full of meaning. Often the many ways in which we cope, while in the moment feel helpful, can also keep us perpetually trapped in the very emotion, thought, memory or even sensation (e.g., pain) from which we are trying to escape.

For years (decades!) I have been treating substance abuse, trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, and other disorders in adolescents and adults at my office in Newton. Helping people move from crisis to long-term healthy living is my passion. I offer individual therapy, group therapy, and families/couples therapy depending upon the need. My general approach is that life is good. It is not always easy, but it is always good. Regardless of the suffering we have faced - and some have faced a lot - or the difficulty of our current circumstances, people can learn to survive and thrive. Helping patients get to that place brings me joy.

There's nothing like a true sense of accomplishment. Challenges come and often raise doubts about what we can achieve. I help people recognize and develop the skills that will give measurable improvement. Their esteem will grow and they'll be able to know what the they came to therapy for and what they got out of it. The same is true in helping couples. There are many worries in marriages and deeply committed relationships. I work with couples on more effective problem solving and decision making. Most importantly is always to renew the hope for the life they want together.

I specialize in conducting neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents, ages 6 to 22. I am currently only taking clients for evaluations. The evaluations I conduct are invaluable to parents who are trying to understand their child's learning style and their learning strengths and weaknesses. Often, parents seek my help when they are concerned about their child's ability to achieve his/her potential in school and/or regulate his/her behaviors or emotions. My reports have been crucial tools for many parents in securing academic accommodations for their children both in the state of Massachusetts and elsewhere.

It is not uncommon to realize we are living lives we never planned on. We may be in an active crisis, or a life transition, or we may realize that we are stuck, or that things are just not working. Often, present-day challenges can be traced back to old patterns of relating, perceiving, understanding, and behaving. I help my clients identify and understand old patterns, and then develop greater flexibility in how they relate and respond. I work with them to adopt new practices which will allow them to move away from impasses and towards lives that are more fulfilling, productive and connected.

I specialize in working with couples who are experiencing difficulties. No partnership is without disappointments, confusion, and an experience of minor or major betrayals. Yet these predictable challenges invite us to broaden our capacity for understanding and enter new depths of intimacy as we repair and heal. As a marriage and family therapist with a focus on sexuality I believe that no matter what the difficulty, we can reshape our relationships to have the kind of deep connections we yearn for. I help couples strengthen relationship skills and develop tools to end negative patterns and establish deep intimacy.

When I meet my clients for the first time, we may decide to seek solutions to ADHD, OCD, anxiety or depression. Parents may be looking for a resolution to a child's school under-achievement, home conflict or social disconnection. In each situation, my belief is that therapy supports skill development and fosters a sense of balance, or equanimity.
