I have been a child & adolescent therapist for 49yrs., & I enjoy my work greatly. I also work with parents who want advice and guidance about parenting skills. Children can change much faster than adults, and that is why I love working with young people. I try to support their strengths, encourage their creativity, relate to them with warmth and humor. I also work with parents with children, and with parents with teens if teens want me to. I like the challenge of connecting with both children and teens, ages 4 to 20. Connecting requires intuition and open-heartedness.

As your collaborator, my focus is on your strengths, your challenges, and your goals. You may feel stuck and not sure how you'll navigate a transition such as the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, an alarming diagnosis, or a career disruption. Together, we will work to move away from negative patterns that limit your growth and move towards greater self-compassion. My job is to create a place where you can express your full range of emotions in every session. While tears in therapy may be expected, do not discount the healing power of laughter.

I am downsizing my private practice in November. My availability will be bi-weekly or monthly with a wait list. Are you to looking find your life purpose or figure out what step is next? Do you want to have more energy, and spend more time outdoors? Perhaps, you are an empath or a creative soul, an artist, musician, poet or dancer? If you answered YES to these questions, YOU are in the right place. I use the great outdoors as my office space where I incorporate ecotherapy, and other therapeutic practices to build and learn new coping skills, strengthen the inner warrior and to let go things that hold us back from our true potential.

I am looking to help people gain insight into why they may respond to the world/relationships around them in the way they do, why they are feeling the way they feel. To help people create a narrative that is strength based and adaptive, to find hope. I hope to help clients start to feel like they have more control of their conscious mind, to step out of living life on autopilot and to find safety in their own bodies. In addition to trauma informed care, I am experienced in helping adults and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disturbance, emotion dysregulation, relational issues and adjustment to acute life stressors.

Do you feel anxious, stressed, overwhelmed? Are you wondering how you fit into this complicated world in which we live? Do you wish you felt happier and more fulfilled with yourself or your life? Welcome, I'm glad you've taken this first step toward feeling better. As a biracial therapist, I have a unique--and personal--perspective on multicultural issues. I understand what it feels like to straddle two worlds, to not belong or question where you fit in, and to feel misunderstood or invisible. I support my clients by offering a safe, nonjudgmental space to talk about your struggles and find relief from suffering. You are not alone!

In his "Sermon on Courage" a great historical figure once said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" (King, 1963). Deciding to seek out therapy may be one of the most difficult choices a person makes in a lifetime. It is an act of courage, and those individuals seeking help with their lives when they feel most vulnerable deserve respect and admiration. My goal is to provide you with warmth, attunement, empathy, and years of professional experience as we talk about the things in your life that really matter. Together we work and collaborate in a deeply genuine, person-to-person connection.

Something that I know to be true: when people feel at home in their bodies, they are better equipped for life’s challenges. I see my role as someone who can support you in finding a safe way home... perhaps home to the relationship with your body, to the feelings it holds, to a greater degree of self-acceptance, personal empowerment, and interpersonal connection. Much of my work is body-centered supporting chronic and critical illness, physical, medical, and sexual trauma, body image and dysmorphia.

Welcome. My work is to help you find more ease, joy, connection, meaning and purpose in your days. Emotional suffering is part of being human, but it is possible to face challenging life situations with a clear head and an open heart. We can cultivate trust and hope in the face of traumatic personal histories and loss. Wouldn’t it be nice to let go of fear and anxiety, as well as the old stories that still have a grip on you, to stop repeating self-defeating patterns and find a place at the clearing for something new?

How can I find a therapist in 02476?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
