IN-PERSON. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR APPOINTMENT INSTRUCTIONS. No matter what someone is struggling with, I will work with them to determine their goals for therapy while utilizing appropriate therapeutic techniques. My goal is to build upon the person's strengths to foster change, growth and healing. I am a transparent therapist, and I feel openness and honesty is the key to healing. My focus is to get to the underlying source of a person's struggle and treat the cause, instead of just treating the symptoms. I also place emphasis on personal responsibility.

I offer clients a comfortable and supportive space to explore concerns, manage stress and make connections to understand why we feel and behave the way we do. Video based teletherapy provides a unique relationship through which to explore these challenges from the comfort of your own home. I am equally comfortable using humor, and sitting with challenging emotions, and believe it is important to have both throughout the therapy process.

Therapy can be a great tool whether you're feeling depressed or anxious, having trouble dealing with stress or stuck in a rut. Just as each individual is unique, so is each course of therapy. I recently relocated to Longmeadow from the Boston area where I've been providing therapy since 2005. I work with individuals, children, teens, college students and families. You will find that my style is compassionate, non-judgmental and empowering.

*Not currently accepting new clients.* Choosing to enter into a therapeutic relationship can be a difficult choice. I often tell my clients when I meet them that I understand how hard it can be to open up to someone who is a stranger, but that I believe therapy can be helpful to anyone. I encourage my clients to think about therapy as "something you do that is just good for you" like other self-care, spiritual, and health and wellness activities.

I provide help and support with a range of concerns and problems, using a flexible psychodynamic approach that is informed by CBT, narrative, and other modalities. I provide both long and short-term therapy. My goal is to work with my clients to create a therapy that is geared towards their individual, specific needs, rather than a "one size fits all approach."

My interest is in helping individuals cope with the adversities in their lives. I have been inspired by the many individuals I worked with who have faced enormous challenges and still were able to lead satisfying lives. They have developed effective strategies for dealing with adversity, for coming to terms with setback in a mature and realistic way, for enjoying life despite difficulties. I use a number of therapies, including the traditional ones as well as mindfulness and eastern philosophy, to help individuals more skillfully deal with adversity.

Finding the right ‘person’ for yourself or a loved one can be beyond challenging. You want to know that that person will be truly engaged in what you have to say, won’t judge you by your thoughts or behaviors, and care enough about you to offer compassion and guidance through your toughest days. I’m familiar with this search, and I believe that I could be the person you need right now as you begin the work to your higher self. One of the first things I tell all of my clients is that they have to feel a connection with their therapist. You have to feel safe, supported and most importantly, respected.

Life is a journey, and from time to time, we all face challenges that we would benefit from discussing with a thoughtful and compassionate listener. I am such a person, plus I own this practice. While I believe therapy is a collaborative enterprise, I also believe when successful, therapy requires an active and experienced guide. I enjoy working with clients struggling with a variety of personal, family, and mental health issues. I have more than 20 years experience working as a therapist. My therapy orientation is eclectic though my foundation is psychodynamic and strengths based.

I have had the opportunity to work with so many adults throughout the past years. I believe that psychotherapy is most effective when seen as a partnership between therapist and client. As in any relationship, respect and commmunication are key to moving forward and reaching personal goals. I work with clients to help raise awareness of there resilience and their strengths. This sets the stage for changing patterns that have not served them well in their lives. I am also available for consultation. Consultation fees are negotiable.

(Not Taking new clients at this time) While in the midst of struggle, we can experience transformation and create a sense of purpose, well-being, and satisfying connection with others. Ongoing stresses, past trauma, or relationship issues can cause feelings of deep pain and isolation, but counseling can help you feel more capable, grounded, and heard. Together, we will work to connect you with your sense of meaning and decide which goals and approaches are most healing and effective for you. Heal trauma, and cultivate your natural strengths. (I refer concerns related to abuse of substances/medication, OCD and eating elsewhere.)

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
