As a psychotherapist, I create a safe space for clients to feel heard and responded to in a compassionate, nonjudgmental way. Through this trusting relationship, we collaborate, build upon inherent strengths, and work toward healing and growth. I bring warmth, authenticity and direct feedback to my clients (adults college age and up), who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship/family conflicts, stress around life events and transitions, and others issues that can arise following trauma.

I have been most fortunate to have worked in the field of psychology, human services and higher education for four decades. Initially, I worked in a college counseling center while maintaining a private practice. Later, I became a professor and chairperson of the human services department while continuing to see clients privately. Through these years, I was able to balance teaching students about psychological principles and techniques while practicing therapy. I have developed programs and courses in Substance Abuse Counseling, Health Psychology and Positive Psychology and have been able to use these methods in counseling.

We all need a little help sometimes. I treat couples and individuals who are struggling and want to feel better. For my couples, my work is to move you out of the negative cycles and into places where you can trust each other again. Guided by attachment styles, we use this to help identify how the negative cycles get entrenched. For my individuals, we use attachment to lean into, understand and heal depression, anxiety and trauma.
