Throughout my career I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of people with diverse
backgrounds and who might struggle with a breadth of issues, therefore I really consider myself a generalist. I am open and integrative in my approach, having more in depth experience with CBT, ACT, psychodynamic, humanistic, and group therapy approaches, but firmly believe that there is not one correct treatment modality. Many types of people seek therapy and I have found that there is not a one size fits all approach. What might work for one person may not work for another. As such, I try to tailor my approach to each unique individual.

Life is full of ups/downs and surprises. I believe that each of us tries our best to cope and adapt, whether in the past or the present, but may find ourselves being quite stuck at some moments in life. This is when we need some help to gain new insights, self-understanding, and expanded capacity, skills and strength to get unstuck and move forward again. Therapy provides a unique space and a partnership to engender a path to regain your footing, to restore balance and wholeness, and to facilitate healing in/outside of the therapy room.

My pledge is to witness and support each individual's journey towards becoming more fully alive. In so doing, I bring to my work respect and acceptance for deep pain as well as for lightness and joy. I consider myself to be a collaborator in helping to bring old, unconscious patterns to light and thus begin loosening the hold of self limiting beliefs, often a result of deep trauma. My practice/ approach consists of Bioenergetic therapy, a somatic approach to identifying and releasing bodily tensions that restrict breathing, energy, and emotional expression. I also incorporate Internal Family Systems therapy into my work.

It is common to find oneself, at some point, caught up in behaviors or beliefs that create suffering and seem impossible to change. This is what we often experience as feeling trapped...mired in bad relationship dynamics or in work that no longer gives back what we need. And it is these kinds of feelings that push people to consider therapy, hoping but not being sure that it will help.

My approach to therapy is flexible and collaborative as I work with clients to develop a greater understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that are contributing to their dissatisfaction or distress. I think it is important to provide people with tools to improve self-care, decrease stress, and feel more in control as they work toward the positive changes they would like to see in their lives. I am experienced in working with difficulties related to college and graduate-student life, life transitions, peer and family relationships, grief, and eating issues.
