I love a good conversation. So much can be learned from the give and take of sharing in a safe space. My clients mostly find themselves in a situation unimagined or unplanned for and want guidance. I have worked with all ages and in many settings. No matter the specifics, all are looking for change - resolution of grief and loss, relationship decisions, exploring unhealthy choices, having feelings that immobilize them and/or concerns about their future. I believe two heads really are better than one. I am here to support you in your journey, however long it takes and in whatever direction makes things better for you. Let's talk.

Hi, I’m Tess and yes—therapy can be serious, but it doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. I believe healing works best when we feel safe, seen, and (every now and then) even able to laugh at the chaos of being human. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or just feel like you’re “doing everything right but still not okay,” I’m here to walk alongside you—no judgment, just real talk.

Our broad goal––of course––is “the end of unnecessary suffering.” Sound about right? While we all strive for this, I specialize in helping folks with a very-unique kind of suffering: OCD. I can tell you that few people understand the pain and complexity of OCD—(even most therapists). I will listen intently to your unique story. Just know that I can introduce you to an arsenal of tools that can help: mindfulness, ERP (exposure and response prevention) and on and on. Yes, thoughts can be “sticky.” But––with hard work––if (or when) those thoughts come back around…they can be as quiet & as harmless as a yellow post-it.

Imagine a wheel on a vehicle functioning optimally when the wheel is balanced and aligned. Out of balance the ride can be quite bumpy like our lives when increased stress, psychological distress and pain reflect imbalances in our being as we travel chaotically on life's path. Difficult challenges can arise creating obstacles too difficult to navigate alone. Life transitions provide an opportune time to seek support to reevaluate personal goals and direction. My intention is to meet each individual in the moment assisting them to navigate a manageable path on their journey to reach optimum enjoyment and success in life.

Now accepting new Telehealth clients. Are you feeling like something needs to shift, but you’re not sure where to start? Maybe you’ve been running on autopilot, carrying the weight of anxiety, burnout and depression for so long it started to feel normal. You know life could feel better, but figuring out what needs to change, or how to make it happen, can feel overwhelming.

My ideal client would be one who struggled through their life and needed to trust themselves, have internal resources and coping mechanisms, be open to the therapeutic process, and become more vulnerable and adaptable. Their goals are achievable, measurable, and short and long-term. They would want to be able to accept where they came from and focus on the here and now, utilizing the tools that we discover effective for their self-love and acceptance.

The ideal client is motivated to continue to work with their inner child to become grounded in the present moment. They may have anxiety, mood disorders, or personality disorders, or they may not be sure what is underlying their experience, which I can help identify as well. The ideal clients are open to trying new methods of healing, including arts and spirituality. They are willing to trust me with their feelings and express them, whether that is verbally, through the expressive arts, or both.

My ideal client still chooses to show up regardless of their ambivalence towards their treatment goals. Even if this person is not entirely set on treatment, recovery, whatever it might be, your next steps can decide whether or not that individual returns. If I'm thinking more specifically about my own experience, I think a lot about the individuals I supported who were actively using substances. They could identify the harmful impacts and want recovery but couldn't get through their initial ambivalence. These types of moments and individuals are so important to me.

As a clinical psychologist, with ten years of experience, I have worked with folks of all ages and have experience helping people with a range of issues including: anxiety, depression, identity development, stress, relationship issues, grief and loss and life transitions. I mainly draw on relational theory and use a collaborative approach to learning about my clients and letting them lead as the experts of their experience. My approach is grounded in a psychodynamic (influence of past on the present) framework pulling in practical skill building to aid in stress relief.
