When you're in a season of your life that feels darker, lonelier or more painful, when you feel tired and overwhelmed, when you lack direction or energy, or when your relationships are suffering, it's easy to forget that you possess everything you need to grow and change. I believe that we each have the answers we need within us and the capacity to improve our circumstances, but that sometimes we get off course. I also believe that what we focus on gets bigger, so when we focus on the good and beautiful in life, the weeds get crowded out. This isn't just my personal belief - it's actually rooted in science!

Sometimes it can be hard to see life's hurdles as an opportunity to understand ourselves better, yet life is full of these painful, frustrating and uncomfortable experiences. Sometimes they are traumatic. Sometimes next steps are unclear or you've lost your voice and maybe you feel frozen or overwhelmed or uncertain. You want to speak up for yourself. You want to start moving through life again.

You're not lazy. Motivation doesn't exist in a vacuum. For you to make a change, you have to be convinced it's worth your effort; you need to know that changing will help. A lot of problems that bring folks to therapy (drinking/smoking too much, doom scrolling, binge-eating, isolating, "lack of motivation") are strategic ways of avoiding a larger problem. We start doing these things to help or cope in the short-term, and sometimes it's at the cost of our long-term well-being. Counseling can help you find your balance. (I currently ONLY have consistent availability for morning and early afternoon appointments)

When anxiety, stress, or the same relationship struggles keep resurfacing, it can feel exhausting and isolating. Many people find themselves walking on eggshells, avoiding conflict, or feeling disconnected from their partner or from themselves. Even when life looks “fine” on the outside, something underneath doesn’t feel settled. I help individuals and couples understand these patterns and find their way back to connection, clarity, and emotional safety.

I'm passionate about working with people who are finding life to be overwhelming and exhausting. Maybe you're heartbroken over loss, burdened with guilt, feeling you'll never be good enough, are scared, or at wits' end. Or maybe something happened to you, and it sticks with you giving you no rest. When we feel this way, we tend to isolate, berate ourselves, and spiral in our thinking or distract ourselves from these debilitating feelings. You're not alone. These feelings and responses are common, and there are evidence-based treatments to help you take the helm and steer your own ship in life.

It's ok to ask for help. It's true that I can't erase your past or instantly take away your pain (although I wish I could). However, I can help you carry your burdens more lightly, whether that means adjusting to major life transitions, learning new ways of coping with anxiety or managing the emotional strain of living with cancer (as a patient or caregiver). Additionally, I have expertise in health-related issues and enjoy working with clients around chronic illness, prenatal/postpartum mental health, and eating concerns. Therapy is your time to feel supported and understood.

*SEE WEBSITE FOR CURRENT OPENINGS* As a licensed mental health counselor, I believe that emotional health and well-being deserve more attention than they receive. We learn how important it is to develop skills in so many areas of our lives, yet few people teach us how to improve the way we experience life.
