Bill McManus - Manhattan Psychotherapy Assoc.
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW-R
Break-ups, divorce, troubled personal and professional relationships can be painful and are common reasons some seek therapy. These and various other life situations can cause emotional and subsequent physical suffering that can be overwhelming and get in the way of daily functioning. Symptoms arise such as anxiety, depression, addictions, jealousy, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, destructive behaviors, headaches, digestive problems, back pain, and fatigue. Obsessional thinking about a person, relationship, career or past event can develop too. Talk therapy helps to reduce or eliminate suffering as well as raise self-awareness which improves clarity and decision making.
I offer a free phone consultation. My talk therapy style is guided by curiosity and questioning but also knowing when to be quiet and let someone just sit with their thoughts. I try to be neither invasive nor too passive but rather to strike a balance.
I am a graduate of a Manhattan based 4 year post-graduate advanced training in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. Also,Therapy need not be a 'lifelong process'. I have a proven track record working with people achieving results.
