As a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner( APRN, PMHNP-BC), I strive to ensure that through counseling and medication management, the people who entrust their care to my hand receive holistic, individualized care so that they function in their full capacities. In my 18yrs of nursing practice, I have seen firsthand the stigma associated with mental illness, which often resulted in subpar care. Therefore, as a PMHNP, I foster an empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where clients participate in their care, with safety as a priority.
I advocate for patients who struggle to be heard or respected and to manage their treatment with compassion, understanding, and attention to holistic care. Collaborate with the client to create individualized action plans to pursue their goals and support them in implementing steps to achieve them, focusing on their personalized goals.
Mental healthcare predominantly depends on a culture of acceptance and openness. Therefore, I work hard to foster a safe patient environment. In addition, I practice empathy and understanding working with my patients and in collaboration with other healthcare providers to ensure that I meet the needs of my patients.
