I have great respect for the human body’s inherent capacity to heal itself. It is important that we know when and how to get out of the way so your body can do it’s thing. I believe that wisdom, common sense and a sense of humor are the best medicines and that listening, validating, educating and empowering are necessary and worthwhile investments in you. I also believe that treatment recommendations must be safe, effective, evidence based. Medications are helpful tools. They are not magical. They treat symptoms. They don't solve problems but can cause side effects. Most of all, treatment needs to make sense.
I prescribe medication to target specific symptoms when I believe benefit is likely and risk is low. I have great respect for nonpharmacological interventions and try to use them to complement medication (and vice versa). Humans are rich with complexity, but solutions are often simple. Pharmacology does solve some problems, but so do wisdom and time.
