I am licensed and board-certified in psychiatry and neurology. I am a part of Serenity Mental Health Centers’ clinical team as a seasoned psychiatrist with 18 years’ experience. After earning my medical degree at the University of the East- Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center (UERMMMC) in 1993, I then completed my residency at the University of Virginia Health System, specializing in Psychiatric Medicine. I went on to complete my fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry in 2002 and became Board Certified in the practice of Psychiatry.
I passionately believe in meeting people where they are at and collaborating as a team to develop the best solution for each patient. When care is collaborative and patients feel truly seen, healing is possible and recovery --even total remission of symptoms-- is possible.
I have seen psychiatric patients dismissed by other medical specialties many times and told that "it's all in their head". That has never been an acceptable response to me. I give them key words to use prior to their appointments with other specialties so they can bring it up during their appointment and not be dismissed, and ensure the best care.
