About
Welby Nielsen D.O. sees people of all ages as part of his practice with Mindpath Health. He focuses on wellness promotion and improving the quality of life for each person he helps. At some point in the course of treatment, there will likely be a discussion on the ways nutrition, exercise, and sleep can help promote wellness and happiness. He also utilizes telemedicine in many of his patients to improve access to care. Many of the people he treats are on medications, but some are not.
He is also very cautious with prescribing controlled medications and requires all adults to obtain objective computerized testing to receive stimulant medications; such as Adderall or Ritalin.
He also views benzodiazepines; such as Ativan and Xanax, as temporary treatments or something taken infrequently and instead emphasizes other ways of improving sleep and anxiety. He enjoys hiking, gardening, time at the ocean and is always working on attaining a good balance for himself in his life.

Welby Nielsen's Groups
Community Psychiatry
For over a decade, Community Psychiatry has been improving access to psychiatry by creating cooperative relationships with physicians, psychotherapists, hospitals, and insurers. Our group has over 20 offices around the San Joaquin, Sacramento, and Bay Areas. Our commitment is to make the process as seamless as possible. With one phone call, patients are scheduled for an appointment to see a psychiatrist who accepts their insurance. If you, or your doctor decide that psychotherapy might be helpful, our office will find you a psychotherapist who accepts your insurance. All ages and diagnoses are welcome.
