**Currently accepting patients for telemedicine/teletherapy only** I'm experienced with a broad range of psychiatric conditions but, have particular focus in the areas of bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, ADHD and post-traumatic stress. I believe in a multi-faceted approach to care and often recommend elements of lifestyle modification, nutrition/supplementation, mindfulness and mind-body practices, in addition to psychotherapy and prescription medication. I try to emphasize a collaborative treatment approach, involving the patient and their entire healthcare team to optimize treatment efficacy and quality of care.

My ideal client is someone ready to explore their mental health with honesty and curiosity. They may be navigating anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, or major life transitions, and they seek care that is holistic, respectful, and empowering. Before becoming a DNP, I worked closely with marginalized communities and provided trauma-informed care as a nurse for 5 years in settings such as Harborview Medical Center, Fairfax Behavioral Health, Pathlight Mood & Anxiety/Eating Recovery Center. I welcome anyone who values a collaborative, person-centered approach and wants to feel seen, heard, and supported in their healing journey.

Hello, and welcome. I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who is accepting new clients, having recently moved to Seattle. If you or your child struggles with emotional distress, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, relationship conflicts and communication, professional and academic concerns, or, more broadly, needing an existential compass for your next steps forward in life, consider this a safe harbor. A place with unconditional respect, compassion, acceptance and curiosity, and where evidence based treatment leads to growth towards thriving, not just surviving.

I want to personally invite new clients to my psychiatry practice. I am a board-certified psychiatrist dedicated to providing innovative, insightful care to my clients. I enjoy collaborating with adult clients with mental health issues who are serious about taking control of their life's journey. I relate personally to you. I understand your struggles, having been diagnosed and treated for ADHD myself. Not surprisingly, my special emphasis in my practice is treating ADHD/ADD, as I believe I have a unique insight into the treatment and therapy that might work best.

I believe mental health results from a complex constellation of past and present interpersonal, intrapersonal, and biologic influence. While medication management alone is sometimes sufficient for targeted symptom alleviation, transformation of the self requires substantially more time. My approach is toward narrative and understanding within a safe, two-person relationship. I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and judicious prescribing in a small, referral-based private practice.

I'm a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who takes a holistic approach to treating patients. I recognize that people are more than of their parts. Maximizing wellness is the goal when working with clients, and to this end, exploration into complex biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors is important to gain a full view of the client's needs. Clients often seek mental health treatment to alleviate distress. It is incumbent on the provider to work with clients to uncover sources of distress and develop actionable means to empower clients to improve their lives.

Male Psychiatrists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
