I worked as a child neurologist and sleep medicine physician before becoming a psychiatrist. Because of that, I provide varied and multiple treatment options, especially for patients with dual diagnoses. I have worked in multiple settings including inpatient and residential and believe in a team approach to care. I am a former lecturer at NYU Child Study Center and headed a treatment team for children and adolescents with Autism and other complex neurodevelopmental disorders. I enjoy working with adolescents, college age and older adults and will engage with family as well in an effort to provide the greatest support to clients.

Tanja Quarles is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who provides holistic mental health care to individuals across the lifespan. A Massachusetts native, she completed her graduate studies at Regis College and has worked in a wide variety of clinical settings. Tanja is passionate about providing evidence-based integrative psychiatric care to all her patients. Committed to practicing with empathy, she believes in the importance of individualized treatment plans based on a person’s unique goals of care.

Psychiatrists are the only doctors who don't look inside the body to assess a problem. Think about it; all other doctors use imaging and labs to look inside a person’s body when making a diagnosis. That coupled with your symptoms is how they determine what the problem is. Unfortunately, mental health providers have learned that how a person feels is their only tool in assessing somebody. Because of this, psychiatrists often have no idea what’s causing the problem. This limits the treatment options to a prescribed “band-aid" that is used to reduce symptoms, instead of addressing the underlying cause of a problem.

It should not be so difficult to get ADHD, Depression, or Anxiety diagnosed and treated. I founded Fox Fern ADHD Clinic because I was frustrated with how difficult it was to get good quality and convenient care for my own ADHD diagnosis. From intake to prescription delivery, my team and I set out to rethink what psychiatric care could be and improve the process from the ground up. We might be the only clinic with a patient-experience graphic designer on staff because we aim to relentlessly refine how we help our patients feel less overwhelmed and more capable. We work hard to make our treatment plans unique and data-driven.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed to practice in Arizona and Washington State and am also certified in Family Medicine. I have experience working in mental health and addiction mainly with adults and elders but also have training and work with children and teenagers. Jim is a psychiatric nurse practitioner who brings a wealth of knowledge about mental health and experience in behavioral health management to our clinic where he serves as our Clinical Director and provides medication management for our patients. Jim has an MSN from Seattle University and worked in behavioral health administration prior to becoming a psychiatric nurse. As an RN, he worked as a staff nurse on a medical-psych unit and as a charge nurse on an adolescent psych unit and an adult psychiatric intensive care unit. He became a nurse to work in psychiatry and has always worked in psychiatry – he loves every day on the job.

Interests include brain stimulation, pharmacology for treatment-resistant mood disorders and psychiatric illness complicated by medical problems.
